The chilly air of the wind bit into Mia's skin as she stood outside with her sister and her boyfriend. Upon getting home the previous night Mia walked in just as Edward pulled up in her drive way. Her dad was also home as she noticed the cruiser parked as well.

The two stopped and talked and Edward had explained Bella had gone off with Jacob after she found out Victoria in fact back-and he had been keeping it from her. Mia sighed and went to let him inside but he caught a scent flaring through his nostrils. It was like he was switched to autopilot because one minute he was next to her and next he was searching through both of the Swan sisters room-not paying attention to Bella who stood in the hallway who stood confused as to what was going on.

The two girls rushed after him and found him in now Mia's room, moving around a few of her paintings that had been torn apart. Mia felt her blood run cold when she spotted a painting she had finished awhile back. It was a portrait of her Mother, Ellen, and Amy. Replicating the photo she found in her Aunt's attic.

Mia stood there rocking in her stance back and forth- a way to keep her anxiety at bay as Bella walked down the front steps with a certain Black trailing behind her.

"Whoever it was, he left his stink behind," Jacob sneered as he now stood in front of Mia and Edward.

Glancing towards Mia, Mia didn't meet his eyes before his own snapped back to Edwards, "It'll be hard to miss when we cross it again. We'll handle it from here," he smirked as he took a step closer towards Bella. Scoffing Mia rolled her eyes, causing her sister to give her a knowing look.

"We don't need you handling anything. Or anyone," out of instinct, Edward pulled Bella closer to him, as well as sheilding Mia. Which caught Mia off guard since Edward never really showed cared for anyone other than her sister.

Jacob took note of the action, and slightly growled to the vampire, "I could care less what you think, or have you've forgotten, my imprint is also at risk" reaching forward, Jacob caught Mia's forearm and yanked her towards him.

"One you haven't given much thought," Edward challenged back. Both Mia and Bella work shocked about the exchange. Because normally the source of their fighting was Bella- never Mia.

Yanking both arms from Edwards's and Jacob's grip Mia glared at the two boys. "Enough," Bella called out, causing Mia to glance at her in relief.

Mia had no idea why Edward was acting protective over her, or why the two were beginning to use her to be in the middle. Whatever it was, she didn't like it.

"Look, we get it, both of you feel the need to protect us, but your both gonna have to work together to figure this out" Bella pointed out as she glance at Mia for aid. But Mia ignored her and starred at the ground.

"Whether you two like it or not you both gonna have to work together," Bella pointed out as the two starred each other down.

"On days Edward and his family have to feed, you and the pack watch over us" Bella suggested. "It'll be better if I slept inside the house" immediately both Edward and Mia began to disagree. "I don't think so," Edward grumbled and Mia nodded, to which Jacob glared at her in annoyance.
