Mia had thought about what her aunt had told her many times throughout her day. At school she felt like there was something about it that left her feeling uneasy. Her aunt had later explained that the only way for a protector to derive their source of magic of the spirit world is if you had come back from the dead.
It happened once. With Eliza Uley. Ellen and her grandmother had told her the story about Eliza Uley. Her husband had been attacked by a cold one and was left for dead. Eliza had to make a choice, and it ultimately lead to her demise. Though her sisters were not ready to live without her, and brought her back from the brink of death. It had been said that her magic had been altered and it's sourced derived from the spirit who had kissed her skin.
"What? You think the same thing happened to Val?" The thought of Val being alive left Mia feeling terrified. She barley escaped Val's hands, and if it was true she was no where near ready to face her again.
"You both never actually saw her body, and the others wouldn't dare commit a crime like this." Eleanor was firm in her words. Mia almost felt like she was being scolded. But for what exactly?
"Alright, so what makes you think the victims of Seattle have anything to do to prove with Val being alive?" It was the tone of her grandmothers voice that made Mia feel defensive. Or was it the knowledge she had prior of who she really is?
Silence is what filled the room. "Until you can prove otherwise. Val is dead. And there is nothing you can say that will change my mind about it" Val's death left a scar on Mia. After the night she had killed her there was a touch of darkness that surrounded her.
Val was her friend. Or at least she thought she was. And she wanted to believe there was still some good left in her and there was a way to change her mind. If only she saved her.
"Are you okay?" She finally heard the sound of her friends worried voice as they stood outside the home of a Emily Young. Mia had realized they were walking up the front porch when she halted in her tracks alerting Leah Clearwater her friends' absence as she entered the home.
"Yeah why?" She asked as she shook her head from deep thought. "Well the handles of the bowl nearly melted off," gazing down at the bowl of fruit salad Mia carried she noticed the slightly molted handles of her dads favorite Tupperware. Cursing she felt her magic reel back into her veins.
It hadn't been long since Leah and her brother Seth had phased. Nor had it been long since they too found out about Mias' secret. Seth was exited when he found out about Mia in fact he now calls Mia his own personal wizard.
It took a few days for Leah to warm up to her friend. Feeling slightly betrayed she had kept these two big secrets from her. But Leah got over it, figuring she had lost a lot of people in her life she couldn't afford to lose another.
Still, the sight of Mias' magic was something she was getting used to.
"What's up with you? You been acting weird since you picked me up," Leah's face softened when she saw the conflict she was fighting within her behind her friend eyes.
