It had been hours since Mia had been confined to Ara's room. Ara kept her company for the most part, trying to get her mind off what was occurring in her backyard. But Mia was worried. This was what her brothers had warned her about. Ara said she welcomed the transition, which is why she hardly felt any pain. But for the others they fought against it, which is what Jacob had done as well.

"How much longer?" Mia whispered as she held her head in her hands and her shoulders were hunched over. "I'm not sure, the screaming stopped about an hour ago, but I don't think he has phased back yet" Ara stood by her door, standing guard in case Mia tried to leave.

Sighing Mia stood up from her feet and began to pace the room, "Has Sam gotten here yet?" She questioned, bringing her nails up to her mouth, a habit she had always done when she was worried.

"Not from what I can tell, before you arrived he was busy with a situation that came up" Mia stopped to face her best friend. "What happened?"

Ara sighed knowing that although Sam made her promise not to utter a single word to Mia, he never commanded her to do so. "Look Sam will have my ass if I tell you this, so don't say it was me who told you" Mia nodded agreeing as she sat back down on the bed.

"There have been more attacks lately, and from what we can tell, only one of them was a vampire" Mia sat up straight at the mention of a vampire in the area. "The Cullens?" She asked, knowing the answer already to her question. "No, they haven't been back here in months"

"You said only one of them was done by a vampire" Mia pointed out as she realized there was something else Ara wasn't telling her. "We're not sure if it's a standard murder or not but, three women were found all with their necks cut open, and some mark" Mia frowned as she took this new information in.

"What mark?"

Ara looked around as she scanned her room for the object she needed to show Mia. After spotting it tucked under a pile of clothes that were on top of a chair, Ara yanked it out causing the pile of clothes to tumble to the floor.

"Here" she said as she handed the photo to Mia.

Grasping onto the photo Mia brought it towards her view and began to scan the picture over. She recognized the mark almost immediately, it was an 'S' shape carved on the stomachs of the victims, but what made the 'S' stand out was an arrowhead carved at the tip. She's seen this mark before in her mothers journals, although she doesn't remember what it means, she knew she can go back and look through her mothers things to find the answer.

"How did you get this?" Mia wondered as she started the picture longer for any other clues. "Embry and I were able to snatch it from one of the police cruisers at the crime scene" Mia slowly raised her vison to her best friend, and with an eyebrow raised Ara began to look anywhere but her.

"Embry, huh?" She teased as Mwara Lahote cheeks turned a bright red. "I don't know what you're talking about" she brushed her off.

Suddenly she remembered the last part of Ara's sentence, "Wait you stole this from the police?" Ara winced at the 'P' word. "More specifically you're dad, who was kinda of off duty"

Sighing to herself, Mia should've known the kind of trouble her best friend would get into. Starring down at the stolen piece of evidence, Mia glanced over the photo to see if she had missed anything.
