In the middle of their dining, Brian got up to copy the files from one flash drive to a blank flash drive he would present to the police. With the major event that seemed to have taken place at Palmer's residence, he might not have to present the flash drive for the purpose of convincing law enforcement to search Palmer's house. Whether or not they were already aware of Palmer's shadiness, Brian still intended to bring a copy of the flash drive along - if for no other reason, to make sure that Palmer was imprisoned and buried under an avalanche of evidence.

He finished eating before Destiny did; she was a rather slow eater. Since he had to wait for her to finish eating, he seated himself at the desk again, trying to see if he could dig up any more information as to what took place at Palmer's house. All of the avenues he thought to try wound up being dead ends. Nothing. The particular events that had taken place there were completely hidden from the public. Seeing as it involved one of the nation's leading politicians, law enforcement was probably trying to make sure that the perception of the government was in no way tarnished by Palmer's activities. And if that's the case, then that means they know, Brian thought, tapping his fingers lightly on the keys of the keyboard. If that's the case, then they know exactly what he's capable of. All they'd need is the evidence to convict him, and it's possible they even have that.

He had to calm himself down, because in many ways he was putting the cart before the horse. He didn't know exactly what had happened at Palmer's house; he didn't even know whether or not Palmer was still alive. I need to stop trying to figure everything out before we talk to the cops, he thought. I need to just wait until we get there.

"I'm done," Destiny called to him.

That was all he needed to hear. He checked to make sure the flash drive contents were finished copying, then pulled the flash drive copy out of its USB port. Pocketing the flash drive, he turned and looked her over. "Are you ready?"

She nodded and grabbed her purse. "Yeah."

It was a sunny, Sunday afternoon, and traffic was fairly heavy. He drove through the city, passing familiar landmarks with the address of the nearest police station typed into the car's navigation system.

"Are we sure we should be going to a police station, and not like...the CIA or something?" she asked him.

He laughed. "We start off with the police station - if they wouldn't be the ones to handle the case, they'll tell us."

The Metropolitan Police Department was eager to talk to Brian and Destiny. Once Harry Palmer's name left Brian's lips, they were pointed into the direction of Detective Travis Wegman, a reddish blonde middle-aged man who was seated at his desk with a corded telephone receiver to his ear. He raised a hand to Brian and Destiny and waved them over. "You caught two nurses sneaking out of his room? Did you have the hospital check the surveillance feed? Uh huh. Nothing from inside of the room, though? Looking down at her cell phone as she was leaving, so...what? Worst case scenario, she took a photo of him? Not sure if she should lose her job over that, considering who he is. Did you have a doctor look him over, make sure no harm was done, no foul play was involved? Perfect. Yeah, then I'd say just continue keeping a watch over him. Make sure no one else gets in. And you had a partner, right? Where was he- Oh. Oh, shit, I didn't know. Hopefully he makes a speedy recovery, man. Yeah. We're almost to the bottom of it, I can feel it. I have visitors that just stopped in, but I'll check in with you in a bit, all right? All right, for sure."

Destiny glanced up at Brian before sitting down in one of the two chairs in front of Detective Wegman's desk.

Brian claimed the other seat, after a moment's hesitation. "We were told that you were the person to speak to about Harry Palmer."
