Saturday proved to be a lazy day. Brian and Destiny fell asleep and wound up staying in bed for another several hours before getting up. Despite how late they'd woken up, she had a strong craving for pancakes. He advised her that he knew of a nice restaurant that served breakfast food all day long.
She stood up from the bed, and walked over to her bags so she could pick out her clothes for the day. "Are the towels in the bathroom?" she asked over her shoulder, while holding a bra, panties, a mint green, short-sleeved top and a pair of dressy black, cuffed shorts.
"Yeah, the linen closet is right there, when you walk in," he said, lying in bed with an arm behind his head. His eyes followed her every move.
She smiled at him, stood up, and walked into the bathroom. A moment later, she returned to the cabin to retrieve her body wash, shampoo and conditioner. Her intentions were to keep the shower short, but the hot water felt so good on her skin, that she stayed in the shower stall for longer than anticipated. Stepping out of the stall, she felt refreshed. Optimistic. Ready to start the day, even though it was fast-approaching four o' clock in the afternoon.
She wrapped her hair up in a medium-sized, fluffy green towel, and proceeded to dry the rest of her body off with a large bath towel. As she dried off, the steam from the bathroom mirror started to clear. She reviewed the sections of her reflection that were visible for the briefest of moments. After dressing herself, she grabbed the old clothes she'd changed out of, and exited the bathroom.
Brian was finally out of bed, standing near the dresser built into the wall. He opened a few of the drawers and pulled out a few articles of clothing, then walked over to the closet.
"The shower is all yours," she chirped, squatting down to the floor and rummaging around in her bag for pins to hold her hair up. "I left my shampoo and conditioner in there, if it's okay."
"Of course," he said, tossing a blue Polo shirt on the bed.
She found what she was looking for and stood up, reaching a hand up to remove the towel from her hair. She draped the towel across the chair and turned around, checking for a mirror that was in the main area of the cabin. Her eyes landed on Brian; he was already staring at her. A shy smile crept onto her face. "What?"
"You just...look really beautiful right now."
"I probably look like a hot mess right now, but I'll look significantly improved once I do something with this hair," she said, lifting the tub of bobby pins.
He shook his head. "You should leave it down."
She self-consciously touched her hair. "You think so? I forgot to bring my curling iron and my hair dryer."
He walked up to her, and looked her up and down before repeating, "You should leave it down."
Her breath caught in her throat as she looked up at him. "Okay." She set the bobby pin container down on the chair, which was becoming loaded with her personal items at this point.
His lopsided grin made an appearance before he turned and headed towards the bathroom.
"Do you need help with anything?" she called out to him, just as he reached the bathroom.
He arched a look over his shoulder. "Such as?"
She shrugged. "I don't know...since you have the cast and everything...I was just wondering..."
"If you could help me shower?" he looked amused. "Do you think I'd ever turn down that offer?"
She felt her cheeks flushing.
