i lay on kate's shoulder as i pull up the blanket on both of us, watching kate's phone as she watches tiktok. i close my eyes, and kate turns her volume down. after a few minutes, kate turns her phone off, plugging it in as she places it on the bedside table.
her arms wrap around me, taking a deep sigh. "i'm glad you're mine." kate whispers. i smile, cheeks turning red. "i'm glad you're mine too." i reply, and kate responds with a small 'yeah', before we fall asleep.
my phone alarm rings and i groan, rolling off kate to turn it off. i tap my phone repeatedly, the alarm eventually stopping. "morning my love." kate says, voice tired. "morning, bishop." i reply, rubbing my eyes as i sit up.
i pour evan cereal, pouring milk after. "want cereal?" i ask kate as she sits next to him on the bar stool. "yeah, please." she replies. i get out 2 bowls, pouring cereal in each as kate pours the milk in.
"what about this one?" i ask, showing kate my sweater. "perfect." she says, and i hand it to her. we walk downstairs, evan sitting on the couch. "ready?" i ask him and he stands up, walking over. "ready." he says, and we all walk to the car.
kate gets in the passenger seat, and i buckle evan in, getting in the drivers seat. i turn the radio on, evan quietly singing in the back. i smile, reversing out. after a few minutes, we arrive at evan's school. "are those your friends?" i ask, seeing a few kids watch as i park in an empty spot. "yeah, they are!" he says, excited. i get out of the car, opening evan's side door as i unbuckle him. "have a good day, evan!" i say, getting his bag as he jumps out of the car. "bye evan! have a good day!" kate exclaims. evan says bye to us, running to his friends.
"do you always take him to school?" kate asks as i sit back in my seat. "yeah, most days." i say, reversing as he walks in with his friends. we eventually get to school, kate and i walking in side by side. "morning guys," i say as we reach peter and mj. "where's ned?" kate asks. "he says his sick, explosive dia-" "don't need to hear it, too much information." i cut him off, scrunching my face.
friday , 5:10pm
"y/n?" i hear dad say. "come in!" i say, and the door opens. "you realize we have that dinner meet up after-party-thing-but-there-was-nothing-before-the-after-party-thing right?" he says, standing at the doorway. "shit that's today?" i say, rushing out of bed. "no it's at christmas time." he says, sarcastically. i look at him, and he grins. "ha ha very funny. what time?" i ask. "we're leaving in about," he says, checking the time on his watch, "45 minutes, chop chop!" he says, clapping his hands on the 'chop', leaving my room as he closes the door.

(imagine more comfortable shoes) "about time, slow poke." dad says as i get in the passenger seat. "yeah, whatever you say." i respond, buckling up. "how far is it?" i ask as he starts driving on the road. "about half hour," he replies, stopping at a red light.
the elevator dings to the 4th floor, and i fix my gloves, walking out. "don't get too drunk, y/n." dad says, taking off his sunglasses. you know, i never understood why he always chooses to wear them when it's literally night time. "same goes to you, you're driving tonight." i say, and he chuckles, and we split ways after we talk to a few people together.
"i've been great, how about you?" i ask politely to the rich woman in front of me. "i'm rather good, i haven't seen you since you were just a little baby! you were incredibly cute, dear." she says. i smile and nod awkwardly, not knowing what to say. "uh, thank you!" i say. she turns around as she hears her name being called out, turning back to me. "sorry, john's calling me. have a fun night, y/n." she says, walking away.
i end another conversation with another friend of my dad's, getting a tap on the shoulder. "kate?!" i say, instantly smiling as she stands behind me. i turn around, facing her. "hi, y/n!" she says, and i hug her, making her laugh. "this was the special event you were going to?" she says, letting go from the hug. "yeah, i'm here with my dad, he's just over there." i say, looking in a direction. "thank god you're here, i would've had a really awkward time here." kate says, smiling. "yeah, me too. is your mom here?" i ask. "yeah, over there." she says, turning around. "is your mom talking to my dad?" i ask, staring at my dad facing a woman, back profile towards me. "yeah, it seems they met." kate says, turning back to me.
"food's really nice." i say, picking up a watermelon slice as i bite into it. "y/n, that's literally watermelon." kate says, laughing. "so what? it's nice!" i say, pressing the watermelon against kate's lips, smiling. kate smiles back, opening her mouth as she takes a bite. "good, right?" i say, waiting for kate's approval as if i made the watermelon myself. "really good." she replies, getting a slice for herself.
kate and i sit down next to each other as dad and kate's mom sits opposite us, smiling. "nice to see you again, eleanor." i greet, her greeting me back. "how are you, tony?" kate asks, and i smile at the small gesture. "i'm good, i can't believe you and y/n stumble upon each other at this event!" he says, chuckling.
i look around as we wait for our food at the other people, 4 people on each table, chatting to each other. "wait so i haven't got this straight, how did you and kate meet again?" dad asks. "we met in school, when kate moved there. she came into my maths class, and introduced herself."i recap, smiling. "well, i'm glad you two are happy." eleanor says, and i give her a grateful smile.
