"hey, y/n!" kate says, getting into the car. "hey, kate." i say, smiling as she buckles up. "wanna pick the color?" i ask kate, pressing a few things on the screen. seconds later, the leg light settings show up, and i lean back, reversing. kate slides her pinter finger along the screen, the lights corresponding to the color she stops on. "red is nice." kate says, settling on red. "agreed," i say, turning left. "so, where are we going?" kate says. "well, have you had dinner?" i ask. "no, not yet." "yeah, neither. wanna get in 'n' out or something?" i say, taking a right. "yeah, i haven't it in forever!"
"WHEN I SEE YOUR FACE! THERE'S NOT A THING THAT I WOULD CHANGE!" kate and i scream the lyrics like there's no tomorrow. " 'CAUSE YOU'RE AMAZING! JUST THE WAY YOU ARE!" we yell, kate and i looking at each other, smiling.
"can i please get a..." i say, ordering our dinner at the drive-through. we get the food, kate placing the drinks in the cup holders between us as she places the bag on her lap. "thanks for dinner, stark." she says. i smile, reversing out of the car park. "thanks for coming with me, bishop."
i park the car on a rather big hill, and i take off my shoes, crossing my legs on the seat. kate passes me my burger, smiling. "thank you." i say, unwrapping it. "sky's really pretty today." kate says. i look up, smiling at the night sky. the sky's black, stars spread across it. "yeah, it is." i say, looking down to take a bite of my burger. "how is it?" kate asks after taking a bite of hers. "it's great, try some." i say, placing the burger in front of her mouth. she looks at me, smiling as she takes a bite. "it is good!" she says. i take a bite of hers, nodding as i chew.
"y/n what would you do if i got crumbs in your car? i didn't, just asking." kate asks as i place the burger wrapper in the bag. "i would clean it up." i answer. "you wouldn't get mad? it's your new car!" "no, i'd let you eat crackers in bed, kate." i say, staring out in the distance, kate laughing. "am i just that pretty?" she jokes, placing her wrapper in the bag as she leans back into the seat. "yeah..." i mumble, eyes widening as i stop drinking from my drink as i realize what i said out loud. "what did you just say?" kate chuckling as she looks at me.
i place my drink down slowly, not saying anything as i stare at the red led lights. "y/n? what did you say?" kate asks, staring at me. "i said you're pretty," i admit, looking at kate. she gives a slight smile, not sure what to do. tension forms in the air, both of us staring at each other.
i look down, staring at the two drinks in the cup holder. i hear kate moves towards me, and her hand reaches my left cheek. she turns my head to her, and she moves closer, noses an inch away from touching. "you know..." kate whispers, caressing her thumb over my cheek, "i really wanna kiss you right now." she confesses, making me smile. "what a coincidence, me too," i whisper back, and i move forward, closing my eyes as my lips joining with hers. i could almost melt into her, realizing how much i've missed this.
after a few seconds, i adjust my body, putting my left leg over the center console, over kate's body. kate deepens the kiss, placing her hands on my waist as i place my over leg on her left side. i sit on her lap, wrapping my arms around her neck. i pull away from the kiss, placing one hand on the side of her neck as i trail kisses down her neck. kate leans her head to the side, giving me more access.
kate turns her head away from me, separating her lips. she starts laughing and i lean back, head tilted. "what's so funny?" i ask, confused. "nothing... it's just..." she says in between laughs. "nothing! i just missed this." she says, her laughter dying down. "i missed this too. i missed you." i profess. "i didn't go anywhere, y/n." she says. "not like that!" i say, rolling my eyes. kate laughs, and i move off her, sitting back into my seat. i yawn, closing my eyes. "we just made out and you're gonna sleep?" kate asks, smiling at me. "something wrong with that?" i joke, opening my eyes again.
"you sure you don't wanna come back to mine?" i ask, pullign up to kate's driveway. "it's a school night, stark." she says, smiling. "so? you can grab your stuff and i'll wait here." i say, stopping the car. "can't resist me, huh?" kate says, smirking, "i'll come back out in a sec." kate says, getting out of the car.
moments later, kate comes out with her bag and a tote bag, opening the car door. "haven't seen you in forever!" kate jokes, making me laugh. i drive out of the driveway, and kate asks me a question. "how do you go to the lights?" she asks. i stop at the end of her driveway, showing her. "so first tap this," i say, showing kate what to tap. she taps it, showing another screen. "then this, then this." i say, kate tapping the screen until it comes up with the slide showing the colors. "hmmm..." she mumbles, selecting purple. "this is really pretty." she says, turning around to look at the lights.
i park the car in the garage, time showing 9:32pm. we get out, and i lock the door behind me. "hi kate!" i hear evan say. he speed walks to kate, and kate bends down with her arms out as her tote bag falls down her arms slightly. evan practically runs into kate and i stand there vaguely awkwardly, waiting for them to stop hugging, but smiling in the process.
they finally pull apart, and kate stand up. "since when were you two so close?" i say, chuckling. they look at each other, smiling. "since forever. he's my favorite now." kate says, and they high-fived, making me laugh. "are you two together again?" evan asks, and kate and i look at each other. "yeah, i guess so." "something like that." kate and i say at the same time, and we laugh.
"wait, what're you doing up? it's a school night." i say. "i was going right now, but you guys came in." he says, yawning. "okay, you can go now, we're gonna head to bed too." i say, and he starts walking to the room. "goodnight, evan." i say. "night y/n, night kate." he says, turning around. "goodnight, evan!" kate says.
