"Pam" Isla looked exasperated. "So you just don't care what she does."
"That's unfair. We can't lock her in you know, it's not a prison."
"I warned you about this on Wednesday and we get to Saturday and she's out and so wasted, she doesn't even know if she's been raped." Isla walks away from the residential worker.
"Social Work are on their way." Dani said to Isla.
"PC Woods" one of the nurses calls over. "Hi Dani"
"Jo,"
Isla watches them. Great another ex. How many women has she gone through. She shakes her head.
"Jo was saying Christie is ready to be questioned. It'll be me, and it would be good if either you or Pam could sit in"
"Whose Jo to you?"
"Someone I had a fling with last year. We went on a few dates. I slept with her twice and then nothing"
"So we bump into your exes about every two days on average at the moment"
"Not really sure this is the time or the place for this conversation, do you?"
"Just wondering how many there are"
"Well I don't think either Jo or I would consider ourselves to have been that serious we'd consider ourselves an ex." Dani shook her head. "Isla, you have to stop this you know."
"I know. I'm sorry." Isla stroked Dani's arm. "Pam!"
Pam came to join them.
"I know she's 17 but because of social work involvement and her current looked after status, she is still considered a child between 16-18. So we need an appropriate adult." Dani explained, "So you or Isla?"
"Isla, you probably know her better." Pam concedes.
"Okay." Isla nods. "Pam do you know if her mum is in this hospital? I think em she'd want to see her"
"I'll check but I think the rehab program is somewhere private"

"Christie" Isla peeks through the curtain. Christie looks up and starts to cry. "I'm sorry miss"
"Look there's nothing to be sorry for, your not at fault here. Dani needs to take a statement and ask you a few questions"
"Dani, I'm sorry I was horrible to you the other morning. I shouldn't have said what I said and I..."
"Sssh" Isla sat beside the bed and took her hand. Dani remained standing.
"I have to ask you a few questions, just like Isla was saying. You are not under arrest nor are you under caution. You can ask me to leave at anytime. But I need you to be honest with me. Okay. It's the only way we can help. Isla is here for support but also to help you if you need with understanding what I am saying or asking. Is that all clear to you?"
"Yes" Christie replied meekly.
"Can you tell me what you recall about this evening?"
"I went out about 630. I was meeting a group from school, Kel was there that's why I was going. I wanted to speak to her see if we could work it out. Bryony, Cara and Dylan were there too."
"Where did you go?"
"We went over to the playground,"
"Okay so what did you do"
"We had a couple of ciders, few smokes. Me and Kel sorted things out. So we wandered off together for a bit, for em well you know"
"Then what? They group started heading home about 11 and I had missed curfew and Kel didn't want to go home. So we went to Terry's"
"Do you know Terry's surname?"
"No" Christie looked up. "Just his address."
"Okay so what happened"
"Well he wasn't in, we waiting on the step until midnight and then Kel was cold and wanted to go home. I couldn't get back to the home so I waited. Terry got home with some folk about 1ish and we went in and had a drink. Then I started to feel sleepy, so I went to the spare room and went to sleep. Then it's gets kinda funny. I remember police and then I was in an ambulance, then here"
"Do you recall anyone being in the room with you?"
"No"
"When we found you in the room. Your trousers and underwear were removed."
Christie looked confused.
"Do you remember if you did that?"
"Dani I can't remember"
Isla looked at Dani.
"Okay"
Dani beckoned Isla away.
"I'll be back in a moment Christie."

Isla looked at Dani.
"When we I found her. I found a guy on his knees between her legs. He was playing with himself. He was wearing a condom. So I ordered a rape kit. I need to get the result of that before we go on. We can't just assume and create more damage to her emotional well-being."

"PC Woods" It was Jo's voice.
"Jo"
The nurse smiled. "No evidence of any sexual activity the doctor said that the patient's a virgin."
Dani smiled. "That's a relief."
Jo smiled. "Yeah."
"Thanks Jo. Nice seeing you again by the way."
"Yeah you too. You seem happy."
"I am. I'm very happy. Isla" she points to the teacher, "is the reason".
The nurse smiled. "Well I'm seeing one of our new paramedics. Weirdly we met on Tinder rather than at work" I wonder, Dani thought. No that would be really strange.
Isla looked over as an ambulance crew brought an elderly woman into casualty. The paramedic gave her a smile. She smiled and shook her head. That was the woman I was talking to on the app. So glad I didn't meet her. She does nothing for me at all.
"What you smiling at?"
"That's eh the woman I was talking to on the app"
"Really so what that's and average of one ex in everyday in the last day" Dani smiled. Then she took a breath "Christie, hasn't been raped. So from what was witnessed we can prosecute for sexual assault. "
"What you going to tell Christie?"
"She can't remember so she is no use as a witness. So I can make it as gentle as you like"
"No frighten the living daylights out of her" Isla said. "She needs to realise how close her behaviour has gotten her to serious harm"
"I don't get you Isla, few months ago you had a go at me for scaring her, now you are asking me to scare her."
"Different circumstances."
"Okay. You sure?"
"Yeah, I'll look after her"
