"Miss" Christie entered the base, "oh my god Isla" the teen laughed. "You look ridiculous"
"I don't know what you mean Christie" Isla laughed playing with her beard. "Wait to you see Mr Johnson."
"What are you doing anyway?"
"Dani signed us up for the school show"
"I'd kill her"
Isla smiled "oh don't worry she's paid for it, anyway I applied for some grants through cash for kids. There is £30 voucher there for Jason and Jordan you can give them for their Christmas, or buy them something with. And there is a voucher for you too, just make sure you spend it on you. There's also a little something from Dan and I in the bag too"
"Thank you, do you mind if I wait until Christmas to open it?" Christie smiled.
"No, not at all" Isla tried to sort the chest wig so it would stay inside the Lycra jumpsuit.
"I got a job doing weekends in Amazon, probably just for Christmas but it's good money. Trying to get Kel a job there too"
"Sounds good."
"Yeah eight to eight and I get the bus back in time for curfew"
"Excellent. How's everything else."
"My gran, not so good. They have let my Dad out to visit so that must mean they think she's going to cack it. Mums home, with some support. But she still doesn't want us back yet. But she wants to see us Christmas Day"
"Sorry about your gran. Your mum probably just needs time you know. That's good you'll all be together for Christmas.
"Isla" the teen smirks
"Ms Foster"
"You still trying to pull that Ms Foster stuff with me." Christie shook her head. "I can't take you seriously dressed like that"

"Isla babe" Dani enters the base.
"Isla babe" Christie laughs. "Guess you're all official now."
Dani steps in. Also in a white and blue jumpsuit with a blonde wig.
Christie laughs, "how come you still manage to look hot, while Isla looks like that"
"Christie" the both say at once.
"I'm only kidding. You both look pretty awful. Anyway have a good Christmas, losers" she smiled and left the base.
"It's show time" Dani smiled.
They left the base.
"I still can't believe you roped me into this" Isla sighed as they walked.
"Well feel free to punish me again" Dani smirked.

Call me Zach was on stage looking particularly smug as he introduced them.
Stephen and Sam looked significantly better in their outfits, than Dani and Isla. Sam weirdly suited the drag. Rachel gave them an encouraging it'll be great.

They stepped on stage. To a mixture or jeers, laughs and applause. The band started. Isla felt sick, Sam started the first line. Then they all joined in.

"That was brilliant" Sam was buzzing.
"Just for the record I'm not doing that again in my life" Isla stared at Dani.
"Come On it was fun"
"I don't know how much fun it was for those listening" Stephen said. "Anyway can't wait to get out of this outfit"
"I don't know I think Isla looks kinda sexy" Dani laughed.
"Fuck you"

They were meant to go back on and take a bow after the encore which rather predictably was the school music students preforming this is me, from the greatest showman. The song ended to appalause from the crowd.
They went back on stage took there bow. Sam lost his wig to a round of jeers. Dani and Isla included.

"Bet your taking that home with you?" Dani said to Sam as they were getting changed.
"No I'm having Stephen's blonde one. Thought maybe Cath could wear it" he raised his eyebrows.
Dani laughed.
"Thought you might be after the chest hair"
"Ha, I'm not that fluid Sam,"
He laughed.
Rachel popped her head in. "Good going guys. Will I sign you up for the spring show"
"No" three of them said.
Sam looked disappointed.
Rachel laughed. "Aww Sam, the auditions for Les Mis start in January. I think the part of Thenatdier is possibly too sleazy for the kids to play... if you want to try out for that. Id be happy to cast you."
"Ha the inn keeper" Isla said. "You'd be good at that"
"What because I'm sleazy?"
"No it's like a comedy part, and ever so slightly camp."
"Not sure that's much better" Sam smiled.
"Come off it mate, you're more camp than s lot of men I know" Stephen offered with a smile. "Kinda amazed you have a wife" he laughed.
"Ok Rachel. What should I learn?"
"Master of the house. Give it a watch on you tube" she smiled. "At least I know you'll be dedicated"
"Oooo teachers pet" Isla smirked.
Sam took it with a smile.

"Isla" it was Harrison. Don't call him Indiana.
"Yeah" Isla smiled. Glad to have the beard off her face.
"The board approved you. You'll start as deputy head in January. They'll send you a letter out. With new conditions and salary. It's interim but definitely stands you in good stead for interviews if you want the position full time. So Mr Johnson will he be good in your role as head of Pastoral Care?"
"Yeah, he'd be perfect"
"Good. You and Dani have a good Christmas"
"You too."
He walked away.
What about Christie, what's she going to do without me. Dani will be fine. I'll just fill the biscuit tin every week but Christie. She puffed her cheeks out. I don't want the job.

Isla and Dani had found a sweet spot on the sofa and were cuddled up watching TV.
"I can't believe you're working Christmas Eve"
"Sorry babe. Gets me out of Christmas And Boxing Day. I'll be home by 11. Also it gets me out of going to your mums"
"Yeah thanks for that. I still don't know if I'm going."
"You still not talking?"
"No. But she sent me a message today. Hope your feeling in a more grateful mood. Have gotten you a nice present. Weather is great here in Benidorm."
"When is she home, tomorrow night. She hasn't asked for a lift from the airport so I assume Skye is going for her"
"You should make up you know"
"Yeah. I'd feel better if you were there."
"Well I could pick you up?"
"Yeah that would be great, just don't show up in your uniform. You know what she is like"
"Okay. I finish at 10 by time get there be about 11."
"If I can stick it that long." Isla smiled "You want another beer?" Isla rolled off the sofa onto her feet.
"Yeah that would be nice"
Her phone was still in the kitchen. She picked it up to a series of missed calls. It was Christie's home.
"Dan. Christie's homes called several times. You got anything from your end?"
"Don't know phones in the kitchen. Isla hun. It's your winter break. Just leave it. She'll be fine"
"But just with they guys out there."
"It's been weeks and there has been nothing. She'll be at Kel's or something"
"Can I just call back and check?"
"Yeah because you'll not settle all night. She'll have to get used you not jumping, you won't be able to with your new job."
"I know. I know I should switch off, and I shouldn't be as involved as I am. But"
"But you are you." Dani says from the sofa. "Go on give them a call back"
Isla smiled. "Hi Pam. Sorry I missed you. Okay. No, no worries. Glad she's safe. Have a good Christmas."
"Well" Dani asked.
"She's fine. The bus broke down, she didn't have any money on her mobile."
"See. She's fine. She is almost an adult"
"Yeah I know. I'm thinking twice about this job you know."
"Because of Christie?"
"A bit but also I really don't trust Harrison."
"But mainly Christie?"
"Yeah"
"You have to be professional. Take a step back trust that me Sam and whoever can do the job."

Come here. Isla settles back on the couch and hands Dani a beer.

"So what you got me for Christmas" Dani asks pulling a chocolate snowman off the tree.
"Only a few more days to wait. I think you'll like it. Well I hope you will."
"I pick yours up tomorrow." Dani looked chuffed.
"Good"
"You not even a little bit intrigued."
"Yeah but I like getting a surprise so I just wait. I picked your Dad up a book in the school from the book people. It's another one of the DNA and crime so thought he might like it"
"You looking forward to going to see where I grew up"
"Yeah."
"She has some cousins and aunties and people coming. It's usually chaos. Fun chaos but still."
"I'm looking forward to meeting the family as Dan's girl."
"What about meeting the family as Dan's fiancée?"
"What?"
"Well I was going to wait to Christmas Day but you know by now I can't hold my own water." Dani moved down on to one knee "I love you. I want to spend my life with you. Will you marry me?"
"You're joking right"
"No" DanI looked hurt. Please don't let this be another rejection.
"You're serious?"
"Yeah. Isla I want to marry you. Will you be my wife?"
