Chapter Thirty Five

Dani woke in her room at Cait's. She felt Isla's body against hers. She moved her hand. And smiled. Isla was naked. It's not a dream. She felt Isla stir and mumble.

That's one of the sweetest sounds in the world. She moved closer and kissed her neck gently. She felt Isla take her hand and move it up to her breast.  Dani played with her nipples and kissed along her shoulder.

She looked over her shoulder and smiled in Dani's face. "bella mattina"
"Buongiorno amore mio"
"I'm trying. What did you say?"
"I love that you try". Dani smiled "I said good morning my love"
"Bongiorno amore mio. I like that" Isla turned round in bed. "What's the actual plan. On my side I have to write my resignation."
"How much notice do you have to give?"
"Six weeks. But I don't think I'm actually well enough to go back" Isla smiled.
"So then what?"
"Where you living?"
"At my Mum and Dads"
"Do you think that I'll be able to stay, until we can sell the house get a place of our own?"
"You're literally coming with me next weekend"
"Yeah, I'm not missing anything, well except an engagement ring."

Dani jumped out of bed. Completely naked. Isla looked at her body, wow. The scar was lightening up too. "Dan, you look sexy as hell."
Dani laughed and shook their head. She walked over to the side of the bed and got down on one knee. "Isla Foster, you are the most incredible woman I have met in my life. I love you. I want you for the rest of my life. Will you marry me?"
"Yes, a million times over" Isla smiled.
The ring was inscribed 'il mio lieto fine' it was a platinum band with a sizeable diamond and small emeralds. My birthstone Isla smiled.
"You like it okay?"
"I love it but not as much as I love you"
Dani leaned up and kissed her.

Cait teased them over breakfast. "So, yous had a good night" she winked and laughed. She took Isla's hand and looked at the engagement ring. "You have better taste than I thought." She looked at her sister. "But I knew that the moment I met Isla" she smiled at them both.
Dani smiled and Isla rolled her eyes.

Isla: hey. Isla sent a picture of the engagement ring on her hand.

Beth: please tell me it's Dani

Isla: it's Dani :) I'm moving to Musselburgh with her next week. They are going to be Sgt Woods. I love them Beth. I don't want to be without them for a day.

Beth: woah nothing surprises me with you two. She makes happy and they treat you right. That all that matters. How will your mum take it.

Isla: I don't give a fuck. She comes round or she doesn't. But I am proud of who my partner is and what they do and I love them.

Beth: you go girl :) x

Dani lifted a pen and paper and disappeared into the kitchen. Isla, watched as she reappeared and smiled as she lifted Mollys lead.

They headed out towards the pier this morning. Hand in hand. "Let's walk along." Dani said.
Both of them were smiling, laughing and feeling happy. It felt good.
"Okay, just don't fall in" isla laughs.
"Very good" Dani kissed her.

When they reached the edge. Dani picked a glass jar from her pocket. And the pen and paper she lifted earlier. "Tell her we made it" she smiled.
Isla smiled. A small tear forming in her eye. She took the paper and wrote.

Christie You were right. I do belong with the hot cop. Isla x

She put the message in the Jar. They moved to the edge she looked at Dani and smiled, and threw the Jar off the side. She took Dani's hand while they watched it bob and drift further away.
