90: Clash

Pride swiped his hand across Jimmy's chest, furious. Jimmy was too stunned, still processing his severed right hand, to defend himself. The Sin scores five bloody lines across Jimmy's chest, causing him to stagger backward.

The Sin stood up and his hand reached for his face, feeling the blood coming down from his right eye socket. One of his precious dragon eyes was gone. His arms shook with anger. With a bloody hand, he slicks back his hair, staining it with blood. A couple of strands of hair fall back down.

Jimmy had stood back up, clutching his chest while panting. He had wrapped a piece of his cloak on his severed arm as a makeshift tourniquet. His shoulders trembled as the Sin glared at him.

Sky thought he was afraid but Jimmy burst out laughing. He couldn't believe it. He had just lost his hand and was severely wounded.

"You came back just in time, Superbia!" Jimmy exclaimed. "That eye of yours... I can see why you would treasure it so much!"

"How dare you...? How dare you?!" His nails extended and sharpened. "Those eyes are not for someone like you!" He clenches his jaw as his dragon eye glows purple. "I'll kill you." With that, he launches himself at Jimmy. An aura formed in front of him, acting as a shield. The Sin broke it down with a single blow and flames rushed forward as soon as the aura was dispersed. Pride didn't pull back, leaping towards Jimmy. He grabbed Ty's shirt and tore it off of him along with the flames and thrust his hand forward.

Jimmy's new eye turned sharper and his body moved before he could process Pride's movement, narrowly dodging the Sin's claws. He took a couple of steps away, creating distance between himself and the Sin. Jimmy panted heavily as his clothes grew redder.

With the severed hand and the large wound across his chest, he had already lost a large amount of blood. However, Ty's body is burned and already sustained multiple injuries before. Even with Pride in control, there was only so much that the Virtue's body could take.

It was just the matter of who would drop first.

Jimmy's hold on Sky had gone away, leaving him on the ground. Sky gritted his teeth together, trying to hold himself together. Pride and Jimmy seem evenly matched, trading blows and dodging each other's attacks.

No... Sky props himself up with his arms. Ty... Ty is in danger... He doesn't know exactly what happened but he has to put a stop to the fighting. "Stop it!" He shouted out. "Please!" The two continued on, ignoring Sky's pleas.

Pride's claws scored down Jimmy's shoulder at the same time the flames burned Pride's chest, turning a large portion of his skin red.

Sky drags himself towards his sword which was a couple of feet away. He had to put a stop to the fighting. As soon as he grabbed the handle, he forced his body up. Sky eyed the two, trying to figure out what he can do.

As a few seconds passed, Sky realized how desperate the situation was. If he gets in between them, he's certain that he'll be killed. But if he does nothing, Jimmy could kill Ty. Sky gritted his teeth as he took a shaky step forward. He has to take down Jimmy first and then restrain Pride.

Sky continued watching, trying to find an opening where he could jump in. When Jimmy's back is facing him, he starts moving. He gripped the handle tightly as he ran towards the fight. A single slash will be enough. As Sky raises his sword, Jimmy's eyes flicker over to him.

His eyes widened as Jimmy sidestepped away and his view was overtaken by Pride's claws coming down on him. Sky looks up to Pride's face seeing a mixture of rage and bloodlust. Sky doesn't think the Sin even noticed that he wasn't Jimmy, too focused on attacking.

At the same time, Sky can see Jimmy lunging at Pride from the Sin's right side.

Pride's eye widened in realization, finally noticing that Jimmy is not the one in front of him. He turned his head to the right–his new blind spot and saw Jimmy there. His face split open with a wicked smile.

Pride's arms twisted away from Sky, changing the position to avoid the attack.

"Don't worry, Superbia! This will only burn your body from the neck down!" Jimmy hurls his left arm, sending fire to come straight toward Pride. "I'll take that eye over your scorched body!"

The flames from Jimmy seem to grow in the Sin's vision. Pride opens his mouth to curse out the sorcerer. Before he could get a single word out, Sky suddenly jumps in front of him.

"Patience...!" Both Jimmy and Pride were shocked.

"Stop!" Sky's voice was desperate, shouting out loud enough to reach the clouds. He held his breath as he watched the flames rushing towards him.

There was a brief green light that overcame the flames for a split second.

Sky smiled shakily. Is this what people experience before their deaths...? He wondered. Everything was quiet and slowing down. Even the flames which were once rapidly approaching themselves towards Sky had slowed.

"... What is this?!" Jimmy's voice seems to break through the stillness. As Jimmy finished his sentence, Sky's eyes widened. He took a careful step away and sure enough, only the fire itself had stopped. It wasn't a near-death experience but something else entirely.

"The human... stopped the fire...?" Pride muttered to himself once he got out of range of the attack.

Sky quickly scrambled out of the fire's way. As soon as he moved away, the flames continued their motion, engulfing the area where Sky and Pride were. Sky's jaws dropped when the fires died down, leaving nothing but ashes in its place. He trembled, realizing that his effort to save Ty's body would have done them both no good.

If the flames had not stopped–both of them would have been scorched. But what was that...? Sky was just as shocked as Jimmy and Pride.

"Patience...!" Jimmy recovered from his shock, turning his attention to Sky. His eyes flared with anger, scowling deeply. "I would have gotten the eyes if you didn't interfere."

"Where are you looking.... You lowlife?" The two of them look over to Pride.

"Wh-what...?" Sky looked at the Sin in disbelief. "No... Ty's body..." A pair of dragon wings had sprouted from the Sin's back along with a dragon tail. Two white horns jut out of his head. The transformation had completely taken Sky by horror. "Ty..."

The Sin sneered. "This body is under my control now. I'm done playing around."
