41: Pride

Quentin woke up, yawning. He rubbed his eyes, glancing over to Ty's bed. He assumed that Ty had gotten up already since the bed was empty.

He got out of his sleepwear, slipping into his grey pants and buttoned down his white collared shirt. Quentin looks around, frowning as he was trying to find his jacket. "I guess I misplaced it.." He decided to forget about it, wanting to check how things are in a hurry. He got into his shoes and headed out into the hallway and went on with his daily routine.

He went to knock on Mitch's and Jerome's door after he was done, receiving no answers. He peeks inside the door and finds it empty as well.

Quentin swallowed, feeling the panic slowly rising in him. "C-calm down... they just got up before you." He said to himself. He decided to check outside, believing that they were waiting for them. Or, it was what he wanted to believe.

He stepped outside and there were still no signs of his friends. "They must be busy checking up on the Affected..." Quentin said to himself. He started to go to the Affected area when he spotted Jerome not far away.

His shoulders went down in relief as he broke out into a wide smile. "Jerome!" Quentin called as he ran towards him. Jerome didn't seem to have heard him as he was still walking, with his back turned towards Quentin.

"Hey, Jerome!" Quentin finally caught up to him. "Where's Mitch and Ty? I thought we were supposed to be in pairs?"

Jerome stopped in his tracks, causing Quentin to as well. "Hmm... We are?"

"That... that voice..." Quentin said slowly. It... didn't sound like Jerome.

"Is something wrong...?"

Quentin takes a step behind. "Who... who are you?"

Jerome tilt his head before slowly turning to face Quentin. Quentin's eyes widen as he takes a few more steps back. "You're—"

Before Quentin could speak another word, he was taken aback by the other's eyes. The blue eyes seemed to have pierced through Quentin's very soul and Quentin finds himself mesmerized.

"Calm down, Virtue~" He spoke, smirking. "I'll have you come with me for now."

Ty stepped into a world that he had never seen before. He looked up, noting that the sky is gray, contrasting the nighttime from his own world.

"Where am I...?" It looked to be in the same area from where he was.

"You're here." Ty heard a physical voice, coming from behind him.

He whirled around, seeing a mirror image of himself standing there. Except that there were major differences between the two. The other Ty had a pair of large wings coming from his back and a black tail as well. Two horns sprouts from his head and his violet eyes glared at him

The other gives off a dangerous feel and Ty couldn't help but swallow in fear. "Y-you are..."

"Superbia." He answered, elegantly. "You can call me Pride."

Pride walked towards Ty, slowly circling him. Ty couldn't help but feel like he was being preyed upon.

"So this is my counterpart?" Pride said go himself, examining Ty closely. "Hmm... not bad, not bad.."

When Ty finally managed to speak again, his voice came out meek. "S-so... you're... you're going to help me.... right?"

"The deal is already done." Pride responded. "I made an entry while you took my request."

"Then...?"

"Let's see... I'll help you and your friends if you're able to get rid of that guy."

"How come you're not going after him yourself?" Ty asked. "How.... how dangerous is he?"

"Don't get me wrong, I can easily get rid of him. But not in this state." Pride gestured at his body. "I'm not in my regular state as of right now."

"Regular state...?"

Pride nodded, smirking. "That's right. I need a body."

Ty tensed up, biting his lower lips as he stepped back.

Pride chuckled lightly. "Don't worry. I need permission to even do that."

HIs answer didn't calm Ty down. "How do I find this guy?"

Pride's corners curled and Ty can see razor sharp teeth. "Here is where I'm giving you a little bit of my powers."

The world turned black as soon as Pride said that. Ty's eyes widened as he looked around, confused as to what was happening.

Something suddenly grabbed Ty's face from the darkness. "Wh-what is this?!" Ty yelled. "What are you doing?!" He saw it started to glow, realizing it was a hand. He tried to touch it but his fingers went through it. The glowing continued to become brighter and brighter until it was blinding Ty.

"Stop... stop!"

The next second Ty was back in the mirror world, huffing. He grabbed his face, feeling nothing had happened.

"I gave you a little help." Pride said. "Once that person is nearby, you will be able to sense him."

"That... that's all...?"

Pride smiled at him but his eyes told a different story.
