For as long as Hogwarts had been around it seemed, there had always been a unique bond between two of the school houses. A bond that seemed quite out of sorts and bizarre but one that was surprisingly sweet and enduring. Slytherin and Hufflepuff. Two completely opposite houses in terms of the qualities and characteristics of each of their members; but yet when the two got together it seemed as if the relationships and bonds that were formed were simply magic.Slytherins, being the bold and strong willed types, often found themselves rather protective of the more shy and soft Hufflepuffs. The relationship between the two houses was something that always surprised the staff and other students every year, but one that seemed to naturally occur, no matter what year or decade it was.
When you first arrived at Hogwarts, it was no different. You had been sorted into Hufflepuff right away when you had arrived at Hogwarts and gone through the sorting ceremony. You supposed you would; your light personality and kind demeanor made you a model Hufflepuff, not to mention your loyalty, innocence and connection to nature. You always knew you'd be a Hufflepuff, mentally and physically.
Yes, even physically you were as innocent seeming as could be, as you were naturally very petite and had large, doll-like eyes that seemed to emanate a sense of fragility and emotion; even though in your heart you knew you weren't as fragile as everyone would most likely think.
Right away you had become friends with a Slytherin girl within your first weeks at Hogwarts. She was one year older than you, but she immediately found you enchanting and in need of her Slytherin protection and support. Amalie was her name; and she was your best friend in the whole world, almost like the sister you never had. She was very tall and had short brown hair and deep hazel eyes. She wasn't overly pretty, but to you, she was the best person in the world, no matter what she looked like. It was her immediate caring for you that made you love her instantly. Whenever anything would go wrong whether it be in classes or with other people, she was always by your side, defending you, her "little kitten" she would call you. You loved her, and although you appreciated the little nickname she had for you, it sometimes made you feel like her pet. You supposed too that is what she thought about you sometimes, although you always knew it was out of a place of love and never anything disrespectful.
That very first year too, Amalie had introduced you to all of her other Slytherin friends. She was amongst the 'popular' crowd of Slytherins and you felt so honored and sometimes surprised that she had chosen you to be her Hufflepuff best friend. Within that popular group of friends one person in particular...one boy...would have an impact on your life you would never fully be able to understand.
His name was Lucius Malfoy. Perhaps the most popular Slytherin of all. Like Amalie, you had met him when you were a first year and he was a second year. And just like with Amalie, the second you met him you both hit it off right away; like two puzzle pieces coming together. You had been intimidated at first, you were naturally shy so of course you were, and Lucius exuded authority and a sense of royalty even at such a young age. His piercing grey eyes seeming to absorb everything so clearly around him, his shoulder length platinum blond hair which rested like spun-silk on his head, and the way he held himself very tall and proud; he was already rather tall for an adolescent too and so overall when Amalie had introduced you one day to him out in the courtyard, you had been initially scared.
