After you had returned home to celebrate Christmas with your family, the few days between Christmas and New Years Eve seemed to drag by ever so slowly.
The combination of you missing Lucius as always whenever you weren't with him, and the disturbing thoughts you still had about how his father had reacted to your relationship had you feeling all types of ways. However, Lucius eased the anxiety as he continued to write you daily letters about his love for you and how he couldn't wait for New Years Eve to be able to hold you once again.Even though the days felt like weeks, soon enough you were back at Hogwarts, ready for the New Years Eve party that would for sure be raging in the Slytherin common room all night. You hadn't seen Lucius or Amalie yet, as you had just arrived back to the castle via the Hogwarts Express, and you had been laying on your bed for a bit just thinking. You hadn't told your parents what had happened at Lucius' over Christmas Eve, as you were still processing it yourself. Your biggest fear at the moment was that Lucius would suddenly wake up from this dream that you both had been living and would listen to his father. Maybe he would find another girl more suitable...more Slytherin...
Shaking your head a bit, trying to rid yourself of those thoughts, you got up off of your bed and began to get ready for the party. Getting dolled up always helped you feel better, and the thought of seeing Lucius soon, and being reaffirmed that everything was ok, was just what you needed. You hated feeling so insecure about something so magical as your love you had with Lucius. Your love with Lucius was the most real thing you had ever experienced and you only wanted to associate it with good feelings.
You put on the most perfect New Years Eve dress; all sparkly and gold, hitting just below your bum and hugging your body in the most perfect way. You applied an equally as shiny gold eyeshadow and a red lip, so you could have the most perfect New Years kiss with Lucius. Feeling pretty, and now a lot more confident, you snuck out of your common room and made your way down to the dungeons where you knew there'd be a lot of people mingling, waiting to be let into the Slytherin common room. In a way you felt a bit like royalty as you were always admitted in first, since you had such a close bond with the Slytherins.
Sure enough, the moment you arrived downstairs and into the crowded hallway where lots of hopeful Hogwarts students were waiting to be let into the Slytherin common room, one of your close friends at Slytherin saw you and smiled, beckoning you over with a friendly wave of their hand.
"Happy New Years Eve!" Your friend said as they gave you a hug. "Come on in."
"Thanks!" You said sweetly as you made your way into the common room.
Sure enough the place was already buzzing with people and music and drink. The room was enchanted so that small gold fireworks were silently popping off all over the ceiling. A big clock was hung on one wall so that everyone could see what time it was as it counted down towards midnight. Cauldrons of drink were all around and you immediately grabbed yourself a goblet of the sweet alcohol and took a few deep sips as your eyes scanned the crowded room for that platinum head of hair you longed to see more than anything else. Your eyes didn't spot Lucius right away but they did spot Amalie, and her eyes met yours right as you saw her.
