A few weeks had gone by and the warm summer sun was beginning to fade into a more cooler autumnal one.
The past few weeks had been pleasant, and were the same as most years at Hogwarts. Classes, studying, sneaking off to the Slytherin common room with Amalie and enjoying the company of your friends in that house. You and Amalie were lucky enough to share potions class together, as you were advanced for your year, so you were able to join the 7th year students. Being so talented in Herbology made you a natural talent for potions as well. You, Amalie and Lucius often paired up in that class as you worked on your advanced potion making. The three of you fell into the same rhythm you had for all of your years so far, comfortably talking and laughing as you all studied your potion making. Amalie seemed oblivious to any change in you and Lucius' relationship; if any had truly taken place that is.
You kept doubting whether Lucius himself actually felt anything different too. Since that moment you both had in the courtyard a few weeks ago with the rose and the apple, things had been pleasant between you two as usual, but nothing special. However every time you doubted, you would look at Lucius from across the cauldron on your work table, and he would catch your eye and smirk; his grey eyes glinting with something you couldn't quite place, and his perfect lips remaining in his iconic smirk for a few moments after he caught you staring. You would always flush a bit pink at being caught, but hoped he would think it was just the smoke and steam from the cauldron causing you to flush. Amalie didn't notice of course. She treated you both the same; as if you both were her favorite people in the universe. She was especially proud of you for being in the same class as them, despite being a sixth year. Anytime you did a job well done she would always beam, as if she was your own mother and say, "Great job my little kitten!"
You had always loved your little nickname that Amalie had given you your very first year, but ever since hearing Lucius use your nickname with his deep, honeyed voice, you couldn't help but get butterflies and slight embarrassment every time she used it now. You only longed for Lucius to use it.
As the weekend approached, Amalie and the rest of the Slytherins had planned a day of relaxing and fun by the Great Lake, as you all always did every year before summer turned to autumn. Some of your best memories had been dipping your feet in the cool waters and basking out by the lake with your close group of friends.
The only person who wasn't too keen on coming, like most years, was Lucius. However during one potions class you and Amalie had been so unrelenting on him, pressuring him to join the outing, that he finally agreed as he rolled his eyes in annoyance, but with a slight laugh.

It was finally Saturday, and the weather couldn't have been more perfect. The sun was shining across the grounds of Hogwarts, basking it in a sunny glow and reflecting off of the bright green grass and the shimmering water. As you made your way to the lake with Lucius and Amalie by your side, you couldn't help but smile at the perfect moment. You were so happy, but there was a small part of your heart that was breaking as you knew this was your last year with Lucius and Amalie, as they would be graduating soon.
