I went looking for Steve, determined to make an effort to change things between us.

"JARVIS is Steve in the compound?" I called out as I left my room.

"Yes Miss Barton, he's on the main floor."

I wasted no time in heading towards where he was. I wanted to catch him before Fury or anyone else called him out for a mission.

I walked in, a smile on my face. I was happy to be seeing him, which was something new for me.
"Hey Steve, I-"
I stopped in my tracks, my heart sinking in my chest. He was kissing someone, I couldn't see who it was and I wasn't waiting around to find out either.

I knew I shouldn't be jealous, I had no right to be, we were barely even friends at this point. Yet knowing that didn't stop it hurting any less. I ran down the hall way so fast I didn't see Loki. I crashed into him, almost falling back but he caught me with ease. His hands resting on the top of my arms.

"Rain, are you okay?" He looked me over with concern, noting the shimmer to my eyes. He has always been there for me, a friend without even trying to be.

I made a split second decision, if Steve could go around kissing anyone, then why couldn't I? "Hey Loki. I'm going out, are you joining me?" I offered him a small smile, trying to hid how I was really feeling.

His response was simple and straight to the point. "Okay, who am I stabbing?" His mouth twitched, trying to bite back the smile he wanted to let out.

I walked round him, heading back to my room knowing he'd follow me anyway. "No one, I just need a drink and some fun." It wasn't a complete lie, I did need a drink and I did need some fun, I just hadn't told him the truth as to why.

I'm not sure I quite understood the reason why seeing that kiss had hurt me so much, but it had. Seeing someone else with their hands on Steve, it was like someone had reached into my chest and crushed my heart to dust.

"We both know that's a lie." He nudged me with his shoulder as we stepped into the elevator. I leaned against his shoulder, relishing in the comfort that he brought me. It would be so much easier if I had feelings for Loki. He was so much fun and laid back, he never questioned every move I made. Just made sure he was there at my side when I needed him to be.

"I just thought things were different than they are." The elevator dinged as we reached the right floor.

"This have anything to do with Captain Spangles?" Loki asked as he fell into step beside me. His nickname for Steve had me softly chuckling. Already feeling better just by having him with me.

I pushed open the door of my room, heading into my closet. I ignored his question about Steve, I wasn't ready to talk about it, not yet anyway. "Look, are you coming or not?" I shouted out as I started getting changed. I didn't bother to close the door, Loki had already seen me naked anyway.

"Spending time with my favourite little mortal? Of course I'm coming." He smirked as he leant against the door, looking me over as I stepped into my jeans.

"Eyes off Laufeyson." I teased before pulling my black crop top over my head. "Besides, I'm only your favourite mortal because I'm the only one that tolerates your ass."

As I tried to walk back out, he pinned me up against the door. His eyes had darkened, a giveaway of what he was thinking about. "I remember you telling me some very nice things about my ass." He trailed his cold finger down the side of my face. Looking at me like he couldn't wait to devour me.

"Hmm...can't say I remember that." A lie. I could remember everything about that God. I might not have feelings for him but he's easy on the eyes, that's for sure.
