The next couple of days passed by in a blur and before I knew it, Fury was barking at me to get to the landing pad. A jet was landing where Captain America was waiting. I wasn't sure what had crawled up Nick's ass this morning but it had rubbed me up the wrong way.

"I'm fucking going!" I shouted down the phone at him before hanging up and putting it in my pocket. I stepped into the elevator before calling out to JARVIS. "Landing pad please J." The AI didn't respond but the elevator started moving at incredible speed. A few seconds later and I was stepping out on to the landing pad. A jet sat waiting as I saw Agent Coulson walking out of it. His sunglasses sat on his face as he spoke to the one man I didn't want to see. His blonde hair slicked back. A brown leather jacket, flannel shirt and a pair of dark jeans. He was nice to look at, I couldn't deny how attractive he was. That didn't stop my disdain for the man, but I remembered Nick's pleas for me to behave. I put on a nice smile as I walked over to them.

"Coulson, Fury's looking for you and he's in a bitching mood." I warned him as I reached them, not bothering to wait for them to finish their conversation.

He gave me a slight nod before turning back to Steve. "Captain Rogers, meet Agent Barton." I rolled my eyes at him, holding my hand out to Steve. "Agent Barton is my brother, call me Rain." He shook my hand briefly, his handshake as strong as I expected it to be. It was a power play, whether he realised it or not I wasn't quite sure. Even man I'd ever met did the same, they show their dominance by how they shake your hand.

He finished off the introduction with a "ma'am" which made me outwardly cringe. Phil placed his hand on my shoulder, "I'll leave you two to it." He headed off to find Nick. I didn't waste any time in walking back towards the tower, not particularly caring if Steve followed me or not. The training recruits were running around us as people got jets and other various machinery mission ready.

I heard his steps falling in line with mine as we manoeuvred our way through. "I'll show you to your accommodation. You're on your own from there." My tone was short and clipped, I knew I was coming across as a bitch. Truth be told it wasn't even him I was pissed off at, it was the fact I'd been given this babysitting assignment.

"What's with the attitude?" He asked, the Brooklyn drawl obvious in his voice even now. I rolled my eyes, which he noticed as he raised his eyebrow at me. "I have better things to do than babysit your ass." Before he could give me what I was sure would be a boring response, Bruce came walking over to us. I smiled at him, he may turn into a big raging monster; but the man stood in front of me was nothing more than a teddy bear. I gave him a smile and a wave, "hey Bruce. What's up?"

"Clint was looking for you."
He tells me, shaking Steve's hand as they say hello to each other. I nod and start walking away from him, looking over my shoulder at Steve. "C'mon Cap, like I said. Things to do."

Once we finally reached the elevator I called out to the AI once again. "Accommodation please J."

"Of course Miss Barton, Mr Stark has asked if you'll join him in the lab this afternoon." JARVIS sounded back and I smiled. I knew he didn't need me for anything, he just wanted to rescue me. "Yeah I'll be there once I've seen my brother. I'll bring the coffee."

The elevator begins its climb to the top of the tower where our rooms are all located. I pull my phone out of my pocket, firing off a text to Laura to let her know I'd be by at the weekend and one to Nat begging her for a girls night tomorrow. She replied almost instantly with a big thumbs up. With a smile I put my phone away, as I looked up I saw Steve smiling at me. "What?" I snapped at him.

"Just good to know that you can actually smile." He looked away from me as I rolled my eyes at him. Luckily the elevator reached the floor at that moment. As I stepped out I looked up at him, he stood a good foot taller than me. "Give me something to smile about then Captain." I missed the way his jaw clenched when I used his title.

Walking down, I pointed out where Nat's room was as well as Tony's and Clint's. Thor and Loki were rarely here so they just stayed wherever they could. Walking past my room I swiftly pointed at the door. "If you step foot in there, expect an arrow in some form of appendage." I gave him a warning. Unfortunately for me, his room was right next to mine. I opened the door before moving out of the way. "So here you go Cap, this is where we part ways." I go to walk off when he grabs my wrist in an attempt to stop me.

It backfires on him though, as I swing round using my entire body weight to force him into the door behind him. Grabbing a knife from my boot I hold it against his throat. "Don't grab me like that ever again." I threaten him. It was a trigger for me, I'd had enough men exert their power over me in my life. I wouldn't have it in my own home.

He held up his hands in surrender, "sorry. I only wanted to ask you a question before you stormed off."

I pulled the knife away, putting it back in my boot. "Next time, call my name."

"Noted."

I sigh and lean against the wall opposite him. "So what was the all important question?" I noticed the way his eyes roamed over my body, I couldn't help but smirk. I wasn't the most petite of women, I liked a burger and a glass of wine. That resulted in a bit of extra padding here and there.

He seemed to catch himself as a small blush crept over his cheeks. Yeah nothing would ever happen with us, I liked a man who knew what he wanted and wasn't afraid to take it. He was too...vanilla.

Oh I do love a good nickname.

He cleared his throat as he scratched at the back of his neck. "I just wondered what I've done to annoy you so much."

"Oh Captain, me answering that would mean I cared what you thought. The fact is I don't." I pushed off the wall, swaying my hips as I walked away. I felt his eyes on me the whole way as I walked to the elevator. When I turned round I could see him stood with his hands on his hips. "See something you like Captain?" I smirked at him as the elevator doors closed.

I'd finally found a way to make his company more tolerable. The look on his face when I wind him up. It's simply priceless.
