The party was true to Stark's reputation. People everywhere, music playing in the background. As much as I loved Tony, his parties often ended in drama. Something I could do without considering tonight everyone would be finding out about Steve and I. It was the main reason I was late, I'd nearly chickened out a thousand times before JARVIS had convinced me everything would be okay.
As I stepped out of the elevator, I began weaving my way through the bodies before Tony grabbed me. The stench of alcohol potent on his breath as he pulled me into his side.
"So I see you and Capsicle worked things out." He whispered in my ear as he swayed on his feet. Someone had started the party early. He placed a glass of champagne in my hand before grabbing one off a passing waiter.
"Yeah we're good." I smiled, looking around for Steve but not finding him.
Tony wrapped his arm around me, almost knocking my drink out of my hand in his intoxicated state.
"I'm happy for you Legolas." He declared ten times louder than was necessary."Really? No sarcastic comment?"
He scrunched his face up, almost like he was in pain before groaning out loud.
"I'm thinking about it, come back to me later."I looked over at the bar, seeing Nat glaring at me. Obviously Bucky had told her about Steve and I. This was not going to be a fun conversation.
"Right, I'm going to go and deal with the moody assassin.""Which one?" Tony asked before falling into a fit of laughter at his own joke. I looked around the room before finally spotting Pepper. I motioned to her to come and take Tony before he ended up passed out on the floor.
"The pretty one." I told him as I kissed him on the cheek as Pepper came over. "You may want to sober this one up before he makes too much of an idiot of himself"
"Hey!" Tony protested, pouting at me like a five year old. "I'm a fully grown adult, I don't need babysitting."
"Anthony Edward Stark. Stop being a pain in Rain's ass and go sit down." Pepper stood with her hands on her hips as she glared at him. Even I wouldn't argue with the look on her face right now. Tony clearly thought better of the tantrum that he was considering as he walked off, mumbling about headstrong females.
I walked over to the bar as Nat looked down at the cocktail she was making.
"Should I be armed right now?" I asked as I settled into the stool opposite her. She flicked her eyes up to meet mine but didn't say a word. "Oh come on Tasha, don't be moody." I gave her a fake pout, knowing how much she hated it when I did.She poured me a drink and slid it across the bar.
"I don't get why you couldn't tell me.""Because it's new. We wanted to figure out what we are first."
That seemed to satisfy her as she finally gave me a small smile. I hated when she was mad at me, she was like my sister.
"So what exactly are you?""She's mine." Steve walked up behind me, wrapping his arms around my waist before kissing me on the cheek. I jumped slightly before melting against him. I was happy that we didn't have to hide anymore. As annoyed as I was at Bucky interrupting us, it had forced me to face what I feared most. Everyone's reaction.
"You know, one day you or Bucky are going to give me a heart attack." I jabbed him lightly in the ribs, making him move from behind me.
"Stop being so dramatic." He grabbed a beer from behind the bar as he rolled his eyes at me. "Brat."
"Vanilla." I argued back, knowing how far from vanilla he truly was. I knew it wound him up and I enjoyed the consequences far too much.
"Bucky was right." Nat interrupted us. "You two are sickly sweet together."
