High Councils Warns About the Dangers of New Ouroboros Drug,

Yesterday at an impromptu press conference, Minister Eric Williams, a representative of the High Council brought to light the emergence of a new super deadly wonder drug. The drug now known as Ouroboros comes in the form of a murky black-brown elixir and at the cost of one's own life, it serves to bolster one's magic for a short period of time. Yes, you heard that right folks, power at the cost of one's life.

Looking into the two cases where Ouroboros was known to be used were by two students of noble descent hoping to gain an edge over their peers. After taking the drug their aptitude in magic did increase, but the young lads lost all sense of self and began mindlessly rampaging across school grounds before being detained swiftly and easily by local officials. Noticing the continuous drain on their life force energy both students were taken to the ER, where several renowned doctors and nurses all futility attempted to save the boys. In one final, desperate attempt to stop the energy drain the decision was made to break their cores. This did nothing, Dr. Patterson, head of Xyrus Medical stated, "The drug, it ignored any and all seals we place on the boys, constantly feeding on their vitality, their life essence itself."

Realizing the dangers associated with such a drug the High Council issued an immediate ban on the drug and offered a large bounty on those who produce and distribute Ouroboros. "The future of our nation is in the backpack of our children." Dr. Eric Williams said, "And as such the Council sees it as a top priority to protect our younglings, providing them with the proper care and education. Anyone foolish enough to hamper this process of learning and self-discovery will face dire consequences."

"It seems that everyone is taking to the articles quite well," Cynthia said.

"So, it seems, hopefully, this would make those noble brats think twice before accepting elixirs from strangers."

"Isn't there a chance that this could change the timing of the attack?" she asked worriedly.

"...I've thought about that a lot, and then I remember the reason the lances took so long the first time was that the Vritra's spy had set up several distractions that needed their attention before they launched their attack on Xyrus."

"The first time?" she asked with a look of confusion.

"Foresight, I tend to recall my vision as if they were reality sometimes," I lied, it's not that I don't trust Cynthia but it's that I don't want to underestimate the Vritra's capabilities.

'I don't see your reason for not telling her though...' Regis said.

'Stupid wolf,' Sylvie muttered.

'Imagine a scenario where the assassins sent after Director Goodsky manage to capture her alive. They would take her in for interrogation and would no doubt notice that her curse has been broken. The Alacryans would then torture her for answers but Cynthia won't respond. So, as the last attempt of prying information from her the Vritra's lackey who has access to memory magic would forcefully read her past memories, and then Master's plans and advantage would be lost,' Sage explained.

'But if she does get captured won't our plans still be revealed?' Regis asked, a bit slow on the uptake as usual.

'In that case, while our plans may be revealed it wouldn't affect them as much. They would all continue with Agrona and his lackeys always on edge for any breaches within their ranks and they won't be able to touch the ship's crew since black squad will be hiding nearby to rescue them if need be.'
