Sylvie's POV

"Ah, yes, this is the life," I said to no one. Out here in the Beast Glades, there is no one who can challenge me and free meals just lazing about. Also, with my control over mana, I can cook minute rice in 58 seconds instead of having to wait for hours for it to cook the conventional way. I mean I could eat the mana beast raw and without side dishes, but just doesn't taste as good.

'Sylvie, you there?' Papa asked over our telepathic connection.

'I'm here papa,' I happily responded as we don't get much time to chat anymore.

'I'm sending Avier to your location, he'll lead you to the wyverns and phoenix clan. Introduce yourself on my behalf and declare that you will be challenging your grandfather for the throne within the decade. Make sure to point out the injustice that he has done against the Djinn and their clans,' Papa ordered.

Challenging for the throne... When Papa first told me his plan for me to become the next queen of the Asuras I strongly opposed the idea. B-but then... but then he told me everything. He told me of the eradication of the Djinn, the exile of my father, and all those who opposed the Indrath Clan. Hearing this I then pleaded for us to try to work with my father, form some sort of alliance but then he replayed an old memory of his.

Flashback no Jutsu

"Syl, I know you want to believe Agrona is a good man, but... he lost himself to vengeance. He lost all sense of morality. Just listen to this message Sylvia, your birth mother had given to me when attained white core."

"When did you achieve white core?"

"A few days ago, since we are getting closer to my enrollment in the academy, I decided that I should fast track my progress by using the Condensed Mana Crystals, and with my vast knowledge of spell formations I easily made it into the Heavenly fate 1 stage," he grinned. "But what's important right now is the message that your mother had me," he said as sound magic surrounded us.

'Check, check. Okay, this should work now. Arthur, if you're hearing this it means you've reached white core. Congratulations on making it this far into your journey as a mage. Now, I know you have many questions but I only have so much time, and after thinking about it I've decided to use this time to warn you about my ex-finance, Agrona Vritra. Arthur, the Agrona of today is not the man I fell in love with. He was once a kind, inquisitive soul who had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. Often times he would sneak off to the other continents as he was fascinated by the different cultures and use of mana, but one day... One day he came to the castle and asked me to come with him since he discovered something big.'

'That day, he had imprisoned me in Alacrya. That day the man I once loved, the man whom I gave myself to had died. In his place, a monster had possessed him, a machination of vengeance. He wanted to experiment on me but he waited for me to give birth so that he could have my, our daughter to use against the Indrath Clan. I fought Arthur... I raised hell, I slew any and everyone who had gotten in my way but weakened from giving birth, a Vritra managed to stab me with their decay mana art. Using the last of my energy I fled to the cave you had found me in. Knowing I was done for I selfishly entrusted you with my power and the burden of protecting my child.'

Back to the present

That day, cradled in Papa's arms I cried, the day turned to night, night turned to day yet Papa had stayed up with me, constantly caressing my fur and reassuring me that everything would be fine. Even Uncle Regis was trying to cheer me up by cracking a bunch of jokes.

"Lady Amicia I presume?" came a deep voice.

Looking back, I saw an amazon green wyvern bowing. "Yes, you must be Avier, please guide me well," I said earning a look of surprise from the wyvern. "I am not prideful like my predecessors," I stated, "Papa would probably never let me hear the end of it if I were to become conceited," I chuckled just thinking about the lecture I once received.
