After the battle with Zagred, Asta was falsely accused of being the mastermind behind the Elf incident. No came to save him or defend him. Asta voluntarily chose to be exiled since he no longer wished to be in Clover Kingdom anymore. Shortly after leaving the country, Asta began socializing with the devil in his grimoire. They quickly became friends and started training together. Some time later, they were attacked by an unusual creature. The former Magic Knight and the Anti-magic Devil were able to hold off the beast but were unable to wound it. When the monster made one final charge at them, they were saved by a man wielding an unusually large sword. After seeing their prowess, the man invited the two boys to become a new time of warrior.........a God Eater.
