chapter six: the truth
As you walk away from the party, you grab your belongings and head off. You aren't going to disturb your brother to bring you home in the middle of the night so you plan on walking instead. But just as you reach the edge of the park, footsteps quickly approach from behind you. Someone grabs onto your wrist and spins you around to face them. You gasp as you're briskly spun around only to come face to face with Draken's bare chest.
You take a step back after the awkward moment despite his harsh grip still on your wrist and slowly lift your eyes to see a determined look on Draken's face.
"What did you follow me out here for?" you try to ask as politely as possible to not further piss him off than he already must be.
"Someone with training doesn't punch the way you did in that fight you had with Takemitchy. Seriously, you had such terrible posture."
You force your hand out of his grasp and narrow your eyes to ask him once more, "What do you want from me?!"
He takes one step forward, once more hovering right over you with his large figure, and leans in close to your ear. "I want to know the goddamn truth, Ichiro," he whispers sternly.
"The truth about what?" you scoff, still playing innocent. "I told you that I want to be here. I want a group of people I can trust as friends in this new city, that's all!"
Once more he takes a step closer to you, forcing you to nervously step backward. "Is that all?" he presses.
"I may not be any kind of pro like you or Mikey but I want to be a good fighter. There's nothing wrong with that!"
"Then why are you leaving the party tonight?"
You scoff at the question he's already asked at least twice. "I told you already that I'm not feeling well. I drank too-"
"How much did you drink?" he hums suspiciously.
"That's none of your business," you huff as you cross your arms, looking away and hoping not to meet his gaze. Your face is beginning to burn hot as it has a hundred times before when he's been near you and you'd rather not have him see how flustered he's gotten you.
However, he bends down to get a better look at your figure, doing the opposite of what you hoped he would. "You know, you're pretty short for a guy."
"And you're pretty tall for a guy," you smirk back, eyes still cast down.
"It's strange, but now that I'm close to you, you smell of women's perfume," he insists.
"It's probably my sister's perfume," you continue to lie. "She hugged me before I left home."
"Oh? I didn't know you had a sister. What's her name?"
"It's Y/N."
"Y/N? That's a nice name," he drawls, causing you to tense up.
"Yes, it is. Our mother picked it. She always wanted a daughter with that name but unfortunately, I couldn't provide that for her since I am her son..."
"Takashi, Y/N, hm?" he asks, to which you nod. In a silent moment that then befalls the two of you, you look up at Draken and finally notice that you've stepped right into his trap.
"Takashi isn't your last name, though... It's Takahashi," he reminds you.
You begin to back away again until your back bumps up against a tree. He is then quick to trap you with his hands on either side of your head, looming over you like he's just caught his prey.
"Tell me the truth, Ichiro. What is going on?"
"It's really nothing. You shouldn't be so suspicious when everyone else is perfectly fine with me!" you nervously remind him.
"You're fond of wearing your hair up. Is it long?" he changes the subject.
"Probably not longer than yours," you reply.
Letting go of the tree, he lowers his hands to the rubber band in your hair and allows it to fall down beside your cheeks. His eyes then widen and he stumbles a step backward.
"Uh, I'm really sorry. I thought something was up with you but until now I had no idea that you're-"
"It's fine," you assure him in a quick voice to calm him down before he freaks out. "But please don't tell the others. I didn't lie about wanting to be here!"
Draken shakes his head in disapproval. He grabs you by the ear and stomps his way back towards the party. You squirm and yell at him to let you go, but he makes sure to keep his grip tight.
"Please, at least let me tell them! Don't force it to happen like this!" you shout.
"This was your doing, not mine. You had over a month to tell us but you just kept lying. How the hell can I trust you about anything? I honestly don't give a single fuck that you're a girl but you lead us to believe you were something you're not for six weeks and that doesn't sit right with me. You shouldn't have lied about who you are and now you are going to pay the consequences of your own actions."
The next thing you know you are forced down onto your hands and knees at the edge of the lake before a man with his hand on his cheek looking bored out of his mind until he lifts his eyes up and sees you bent over before him.
"What is the meaning of this?" he asks, his voice the tiniest bit amused by the sight of his closest friend standing angrily behind you.
There's nothing left for you to do. You're now in front of Mikey no longer as Ichiro, but as Y/N, and truth be told that scares the hell out of you.
