Rook's POV:

Devyn was the reason I got to where I am today. She was the one that came round to mine just to sit and watch me play drums. She was the one who kept taking videos of me and posting them all over social media to get more attention for me. She was the one that pushed me to actually send those videos to Machine Gun Kelly himself. Man, he was insanely talented, and I never believed anything would happen from this, but Devyn had complete faith. The whole way through, she had faith.

I remember when we first said 'I love you'. We'd been together for about a year, and she was already part of the family. Most days she'd just stroll right into our house and sit with my parents while I was still waking up. They loved her like their own daughter. I didn't blame them; I was completely in love with her. I believed I'd found my other half, at the sweet age of 15. She was one of us.

I wandered downstairs in just my black sweats, only to find Devyn sitting on the edge of one of the couches, her elbows resting on her knees, a controller between her hands, and her lip between her teeth. Her concentration face was always adorable. Chapo was curled up beside her, sound asleep, while my brother was sitting on the floor in front of the couch, also jabbing away at the buttons on his controller. I laughed and rolled my eyes, taking a quick photo of them and uploading it to Instagram before grabbing a plate of toast and sitting beside Chapo.

"Hey." She briefly glanced over at me with a warm smile before turning her attention to the tv, making me laugh as she nudged Cole with her foot once he got in front in the game.
"Hi." I smiled back, sitting back as I ate my toast and watched my family play together. My parents were on the other couch watching the game, laughing along with Dev and Cole. It was a relaxed environment, and I knew that was where I always wanted to be. With her and my family.

Once she'd beaten my brother at whatever game they were playing, she threw the controller over to pops, before throwing herself against me. We both burst out laughing as we fell on the couch, my arms winding around her waist to keep her close to me. "Hey, baby." I whispered with a smirk, making her roll her eyes as she got comfy against me.
"Hi." She tiredly mumbled, closing her eyes and completely flattening me as she dug her head into my neck. I gently squeezed her closer, pressing a kiss to the side of her head, before closing my eyes with her.

We laid on the couch together, my family yelling and laughing together in the background, still playing the game. Dev and I were gradually falling asleep, when I felt her wriggle even closer - despite the fact that she was already flattening all the air out of me. Any closer and she'd be fucking wearing my skin as a jacket.
I chuckled and hugged her tighter as she made a happy gurgle sound, just like a toddler, as I burst out laughing again. Fuck, she was so perfect.

"God, I love you." I groaned, making her head snap up to look at me. Her sudden alertness made me laugh as I stared back into her bright blue eyes.
"You do?" She whispered, her eyes widening in hope as her eyebrows pulled up at the front. Just like a Disney character.
"I do." I confidently nodded. "I love you." Her expression slowly morphed into a bright smile as she scrunched up her nose, a squeal escaping her as she dug her head back into my neck. I laughed as I rubbed her back, pulling back slightly to look down at her.
"I love you too." She whispered.

Fuck me. I think I died on the spot right then and there. Hearing Devyn whisper those four words, feeling her warm breath against my neck, well, it put me in an early grave, let's say. I instantly tightened my grip on her, before rolling over slightly so that we were both laid on our sides, letting air finally fill my lungs. She hummed in content and aggressively threw a leg over both of mine, making me laugh as she trapped me against her body. I rolled my eyes and gently kissed her forehead before finally allowing myself to fall asleep to her steady breaths, fading out the shouts of my family from behind me.
