Rook's POV:

"Hey Rook! Where'd y'all fuck off to?" Kells' obnoxious voice chased me as he swaggered through the park, his arms swinging loosely by his side and his face angled towards the sun. "Casie wanted to go on a ride with you an' Dev, but she went on with Cole instead. Where the fuck d'ya go?"

I stared blankly up at Kells, completely lost for words. Hell, I couldn't even formulate anything in my mind that wasn't a complete jumble of incomprehensible sounds. I'd been knocked back so hard, it felt like I was an alien on my own planet.

"I- we- I don't... fuck me." I stumbled on my words, looking up at him hopelessly, before bowing my head in defeat. I didn't want to see his confused yet sympathetic looks, and admit what had happened between Devyn and I. We were both at fault, yet we were both too proud to admit it.

"Alright, let's get you on a coaster. Maybe that'll help. Shake you into shape." Kells laughed as he patted my back (with a sympathetic touch), yet painfully oblivious to what had actually happened.

He led me straight to the Revenge of the Mummy ride, of course, yet it didn't phase me once. Whilst everyone around me let out screams and howls as we were plunged into darkness, the mummies lit up out of nowhere, and the ride picked up speed - I was emotionless.

I sat and watched the scene pass me by, a passive expression on my face. I didn't feel fear, I didn't feel excitement, I didn't feel the rush of adrenaline you usually feel on rides. I felt nothing but heartbreak.

"Okay, so that didn't work." Kells grumbled once the ride came to an end, and we climbed off. I walked silently beside him, as he tried to use his height to his advantage by scanning over everyone's heads for our family.

"C'mon, this is the only thing I can think of that will fix whatever the fuck is wrong with your mood." He shook his head disapprovingly at me, then began to walk over to another attraction, looking like he was on a mission.

I went to follow him, but stopped in my tracks as soon as my eyes rose to the Jurassic World sign. My heart sank as I found my family taking it in turns standing in front of the sign, to get their photos taken. Each of them wore huge, shining smiles. But not Devyn. She knew too.
This was our favourite attraction in the whole of the park.

I watched Casie grab Devyn's hand, and eagerly drag her through the gates and towards the ride, an incredible smile on her adorable face. Devyn somehow managed to form a smile so realistic I doubted she'd ever been on the verge of tears from our argument.
See what I mean, she treats Casie like her own daughter?

"Alright, man. Seriously, what's up with you? You're usually jumpin' to get on this ride with Dev. You two always run to the front, even in front of Case! If this ain't gonna fix you, there's no helpin' you." Kells' sigh snapped me from my thoughts.

I slowly blinked up at him, then shrugged my shoulders in a hopefully unbothered manner, and wandered mindlessly over to the entrance. I didn't want to go on the ride, not at all, but apparently I had to 'do it for Casie and Wyatt'. Apparently, so far, I wasn't doing a good job of that.

"Daddy, can I go on with you an' Uncle Slim?" Casie asked when we'd finally caught up to the group. Few words were shared between Kells and I on our walk over, and I think he finally got the hint that he wasn't going to get anything out of me.

"Of course, baby." The giant beamed as he took his daughter's tiny hand in his oversized one, swinging their hands as she skipped over to the line. She happily flashed her express pass, and took a stand at the front with her father proudly beside her.

"C'mon, Slim. You're the chosen one. It's only right." Kells gave his brother a cheeky grin and held his hand out towards Slim. The other eyed Kells' hand, before bashfully shrugging and grabbing the outstretched hand.
