Devyn's POV:Cleveland wasn't what I expected. It wasn't shining lights, sparkles, jazz hands. If I'm being honest, the only thing to rave about is the fact that Machine Gun Kelly came from Cleveland. But, that's not exactly something that would make me rush over to Cleveland, screaming and crying with joy.
Maybe when he's more famous, or something cool actually happens in Cleveland. Like Andy Biersack moving there or something (random, I know, just roll with it). Honestly, it was just a normal state, with the same old roads and houses.
Where was the sparkle?!I had to admit that I was warming up to the idea though, especially after seeing how much effort they put into my bedroom and making sure I felt comfortable there. They gave me space to get accustomed to my new bedroom, then made me choose where to get food from, making sure I got everything that I wanted. Then we sat in the lounge together, JP eventually joining us once Kells went to get him. Apparently he was so deep into trying to destroy his drum kit to hear us - Kells' words, not mine. He sat on the floor by my knees since I was sitting criss-crossed on the couch, listening along to their conversation as they just let me be. I was grateful for that.
That night was probably one of the worst night's sleep I'd had, although it couldn't compare to how I used to sleep at home - my childhood home, I mean, in Toledo. I was tossing and turning all night, unable to sleep, until I decided to grab a bottle of water from downstairs, hoping the walk would somehow help me out and tire me out more. I quietly made my way downstairs and grabbed a bottle of water, before standing in the kitchen, looking out the window at the pitch black garden and the few stars in the night sky.
"Fucking hell!" I heard Kells gasp from behind me, making me turn round to see what the problem was - not realising that it was me. "Jesus fuck! You scared me!" He panted, slowly lowering the baseball bat.
"Sorry." I apologetically smiled at him, although I doubt he could see it through the blackness. "I just came down to get water." I explained, holding the bottle I was holding up - like an idiot. He shook his head and flicked the lights on, rummaging through his cupboard before loudly placing two crystallised whiskey glasses on the kitchen island, followed by a bottle of whiskey and a handful of ice cubes. If I'd learnt anything since meeting these guys, it's that they're all chaotic, especially the Gunner himself. And it was like he really didn't care for waking the others up, like I had. He was almost as loud as a mother doing housework in a morning while you're trying to sleep in.
He poured two small glasses of whiskey, then dumped the ice cubes into them before sliding one of the glasses across to me. I smiled and nodded to thank him before taking a sip, letting the alcohol burn my throat. It was the first drink I'd had in so long - I wasn't used to it anymore.
It seemed I wasn't used to anything anymore, not even being a member of society, which should be natural. It's like the coma had erased all the human out of me. Now it was just the voices, and the confused daze, as I blindly made my way through the day, one unsteady step at a time.
"Couldn't sleep?" Kells asked as he gestured for me to sit on one of the bar stools opposite him while he leaned against the kitchen island, making me nod with a sigh as I sat down, staring down at my drink, my fingertips tracing the design on the glass. "I don't know what it is. I just- I can't." I shrugged.
"It's understandable." He nodded. "I couldn't either. My brain's too wired up." He added. We sat in a comfortable silence for a few minutes, before he stood back to lean his back against the kitchen counter behind him, crossing his arms as he looked across at me. "How are things between you and Rook?" He asked, trying to hide a smirk. Subtlety didn't seem to be his strong suit.
