"Nick...." Denise said silently, placing her hand on his shoulder. He shook his head as tears poured out of his eyes. "You should go check on her." Denise said also shedding some tears.

He nodded and did as was told. He closed the door behind him and walked over to the hospital bed. There laid Selena. She was hooked up to many wires and had a tube in each nose.
"Hey." She said weakly.

But he never said a word, instead he sat down the chair beside the bed. "What's wrong?" She asked sitting up. He looked over and her and wiped his tears. "Nick?" She asked. "We lost the babies." He said in disbelief.

"Wait...what?" She asked. He stood up and held his head. "You had a miscarriage!" He yelled aggravated. She jumped at his tone of voice. She started to sob, putting her head in her hands. He looked over at her and softened.

"I'm sorry." He sighed sitting next to her. He took her in his arms and rubbed her back. She held on to him and sobbed. "It's okay, we'll make others." He said. But she shook her head. Although she wanted more kids, she wanted to have these twins. But now she wouldn't be able to see their faces. Feed them, play with them, or even watch them grow up. "Shhh." He said crying himself.

"Hey sweetie." Denise said. Selena looked up at her with puffy eyes. "Awe Sweetie...." She said sadly embracing her into her arms.
Just then the family entered.

"What did I do wrong?" She asked. "Nothing sweetie." Denise cried. "You did nothing wrong." She added. "Yes you did, the doctor said you didn't eat enough." Frankie said casually. "Frankie!" Everyone yelled at him.

"Paul, please take everyone home." Denise sighed. "I'll deal with you later Frankie." She hissed. Everyone piled out and there left Selena, Nick, and Denise.

"So it is my fault." Selena cried. "No it's not!" Denise said holding her closer. "I didn't eat enough to feed them. I killed them...." She said sobbing. "Babe, it wasn't your fault." He said.

"Mom what am I gonna do?" Nick asked. Selena was now sound asleep. "Honey there's nothing to do." Denise sad sadly. He sighed and looked over at his fiancé. "Look honey, there's gonna be a time when you can't do anything in certain situations." She stated. "This happens to be one of those situations." She whispered.

"How do I stop this?" He asked. "Stop what?" She asked. "This heartache mom." He said beginning to cry once again. She sighed and said, "Come here Nick." She demanded. He walked over to her and embraced her. She leaned his head on her shoulder.

"Have I ever told you that I almost lost you?" Denise asked. "No." He sniffed. "Well when you were in my tummy I didn't know you were there at first. I didn't know I was pregnant until I drank a glass of wine and was rushed to the hospital. They told me I almost lost you. That's when I found out I was pregnant with you." She confessed. "Why are you telling me this?" He asked.

"Because...." She started, pulling away from him. "I realized that the best things comes in surprises...." She smiled at him. And Denise was right. Nick had no idea what she meant but would soon find out.

"Nick?" They heard. He turned around to see his fiancé. Her eyes were red and puffy. Her lips quivered as if she was about to cry. "Hey baby." He said as he hugged her. She began to sob once again. Losing her babies was the worst thing that could've happen to her. And she has worked for Nick, the world's worst boss.

"You'll be okay." Nick sighed, rubbing her back. Suddenly, Selena jolted up and grabbed the bedpan, throwing up in it. When she didn't stop, Nick quickly alerted the nurse. She ran in and checked the monitor.

"Okay can you guys step out for a minute?" Said the nurse. "What's wrong nurse?" Denise asked. "Please cooperate ma'm." The nurse pleaded. Nick and Denise obeyed and exited the room.

The two stood in the waiting room. Nick was getting even more worried than he was before. What else could go wrong?! He thought. Five minutes later, the same nurse came out of the room. She had a big smile on her face. "Is everything alright?" Denise asked.

"I apologize in advance for the false news. The babies are alive and well." She smiled. All Nick was thinking was: What The Heck!
