Post Dinner

The girls were in the kitchen. Putting away dishes, wiping the counter, sweeping the floor and talking.

"Selena?" Denise called. Selena fell out of her trance and looked at the awaiting girls. "Yeah?" She asked. "You haven't said one word, what's the matter hun?" Denise asked. She placed her hand gently on her shoulder. "I-I was just thinking about something." She sighed and resumed to seeping the floor.

Demi grabbed the broom and set it down against the wall. "You look flushed." She looked at her face. "I do?" She asked. "Yeah." Denise sighed as she felt her cold forehead and cheeks. "Sel, I think you should lay down." Dani suggested.

"Come on hun." Denise said as she guided her up the stairs and into her room. Nick was typing away on his laptop, catching up on his work. Denise laid Selena down on the bed and rubbed her stomach.

"Is everything okay?" Asked Nick. "She's a little under the weather. I think it's the baby." She rubbed her stomach a little more gently. Nick set his laptop on the nightstand and looked at his fiance. "You okay?" He kissed her forehead. "Mhm." She lied.

"She's fine mom, she's just not feeling good right now." He assured her. "Okay." She kissed her tummy. "You'll be alright." She smiled. "Thanks Denise." She weakly smiled. "Ah, ah, ah. It's mom now." She said.

"Right, thanks mom." She said. Denise gave a nod and started out for the door. She then turned to her son. "Nick are you doing work?" She asked. "Yeah, I have to check up on how things are." He said as he typed a message to Blanda.

She sighed. "Nick, the boys are in the basement with the kids, go do something with them." She pleaded. "Fine." He shut his laptop and left with his mom, leaving Selena all by herself. She needed some time alone.

She got up and reached into her purse, where she found on the couch. She dug through it to find her wallet. She unbukled the small belt that kept it sealed and looked at the section where the photos laid.

There was one with her parents when she was just a little girl. And there was one, of which displayed a young couple. The guy was wearing a striped green and brown shirt, while the girl had on a black dress to match.

She slipped the picture out and smiled at it. A few tears fell on the picture, which managed to escape from Selena's eyes. She missed them, how they were. Such a wonderful couple. She wiped the tear drops off the picture and kissed it.

"What's that?" Nick asked as he entered. Selena jumped amd quickly hid the photo. "Huh?" She said. "That, behind your back." He walked closer. "Nothing." She lied. "Aren't you supposed to be with the guys?" She asked. He sat on the bed next to her and shrugged. "They were busy with their daughters." He said.

"When we have our baby, you won't feel as left out." She said. "Don't change the subject, what's behind your back?" He cocked his eyebrow. "Nothing." She answered again. "It's obviously something. You were crying." He reached behind her back. She shifted and moved away. "Nick, stop." She whined. "I just wanna see." He said.

She shook her head. "Gomez, hand it over. That's an order." He said sternly. She sighed in defeat. "Look, just don't freak out when I hand it to you." She pleaded. "Okay?" He said.

Selena took a long breath before handing over the photo.

He slowly took it and stared at it. His eyes widened at the sight. "What the hell?" He asked. Nick looked up at her freaked out and confused. "What is this?" He pointed to the picture. "I-It's us." She stammered. "I know it's us. Why is it us?" He asked.

She sighed and closed her eyes. "We sort of dated in high school." She confessed. "Excuse me?" He asked. "We dated in high school." She repeated. "I dated four girls: Ashley, Miley, Lucy, and Taylor. I don't remember a Selena." He said. She gasped. "You dated Miley? That slut, she said she didn't like you." She said.

"Woah, wait. We went to the same high school?" He asked. "Yes, where we dated." She cracked a smile. He sighed and held his head. "I know it seems weird, but you got into a car accident and lost your memory." She sighed.

"I did get into a car accident, but that's bullshit." He stood up. "Go ask your mother, I'm sure she'll tell you the truth." She said. Nick didn't hesitate to approach his parents about it. He went downstairs to find them having casual talk in the living room. He walked in and stood in front of them.

"Nick, just man I wanted to see." Paul smiled. "That car accident in high school, did I loose my memory?" He said straight forward. Paul sighed and folded his newspaper. Denise tensed up a bit and looked at her curious, yet confused son.

"Yes, you lost most of your memory." She sighed. "Did I have a girlfriend?" He asked. The couple smiled at him. "Yes, very sweet girl." Paul said. "Although I forgot her name, something that ends with a lena." She smiled. "Yeah, you used to call her Lena." Paul said. "Hints why Kevin named Alena that, he loves it." He continued. "Yeah you guys were the cutest couple, besides you and Selena." Denise said.

"Thanks." Nick sighed and left. He walked back to the room and sat next to Selena. "It's true." He sighed. She nodded and played with her fingers.

"How do you know about the accident?" He asked. She looked up at him and sighed. "Because I was there." She said with a crack in her voice.
