He unpacked all of his clothes and placed them inside the washing machines. Each machine he took up was sorted between colors
In with the quarters as they washed around and spun, each one acted as a chain to the other. One would stop and go the other way, the others would do the same.
Andy sat back on the bench given in the place and took out his phone. He listened to music while scrolling through a news article about him. It was useful for him to know if any heroes were after him or had identified him.
"Hey, you're the kid from the little cafe, right?" A voice called out from behind him. It was one of the teachers at the school nearby. Andy froze for a second before turning and nodding back.
"What's your secret to making coffee taste so good" Midnight leaned towards him more, trying to start a conversation with the kid.
"Cold, filtered water and fresh beans" he muttered out quietly.
"Really? That's it?" She placed the basket on top of the bench before taking some of it out and throwing it into a machine.
"Yeah, not much"
"Oh come on. There's gotta be more to it. No way it's just special water and beans" she smiled at him with a look that teased his response.
"I just put the stuff in the machines and it makes the coffee." He shrugged his shoulders as the machine beeped, signaling it was time to take the clothes out.
Andy quickly realized it was the machine specifically with his sweatshirt inside. He opened the door as normally as he could and took the clothes out into a basket given.
"Your sweatshirt is ripped" She pointed at the sleeve that belongs to his suit. She already knew the sweater was Zero's. She saw it in the machine before it slipped back into the mess of clothes.
"Oh it is. I'll fix it when I get home." He panicked and looked at the sleeve, not taking out the whole sweater.
"So youre Zero?" She closed the door of the washing machine.
"Uh, no Zero is a friend of mine." He froze and looked back at her.
"So the cut on your arm and the rip in the suit match perfectly, but you're not Zero." She took a step and leaned to Andy, her face looking smug. Andy stepped back preparing to run from the hero, who could easily turn his life around.
"But, you're his friend" She giggled, turning away and pulling out her phone.
Andy stopped to turn to his arm, which had a small knick he didn't notice existed. In fact he didn't even know how he got it.
"I'm not turning you in, so you don't need to worry about that. I don't really care to catch vigilantes." Midnight crossed her legs on the bench.
"Why not? '' Andy turned to put the clothes in the dryer, still keeping an eye on Midnight. She's had heroes pull tricks where they pretended to be his friend and then try to capture him.
"Because you vigilantes know just as much as us heroes how dangerous the job is. We just have training to do it. Plus you're a vigilante I like."
"Why do you like me?" He closed the door to the dryer.
"You don't harm villains, yet you capture them. I mean you give them a bruise or two but they never go into the stations with broken bones'' Midnight chuckled a bit "Plus you're funny."
"Isn't that what a vigilante is supposed to do? You're not supposed to kill the villains." He scrunched his eyebrows and turned to her directly.
"A lot of vigilantes break bones."
"Oh. Huh. Well thanks." The second load beep and he repeated the process of moving each of his three batches to the dryers. He didn't turn fully away from Midnight himself, although something told him it was truly safe to be normal.
Andy eventually left the laundromat, this time not taking the time to fold the clothes. He didn't want to be around a hero who knew his biggest secret.
Eventually Midnight left too, but not with a proud smile. She didn't want to hand in Andy, but she was proud of all of the heroes; she's the only one to know who it was.
"You won't believe who I ran into." She gloated to her friend.
"Who did you run onto?" Cementoss answered on the other side of the phone.
"I ran into Zero out of costume. Isn't that something," she bragged.
"I've tried to catch that guy for like a year now and you just so happen to run into him?" He didn't believe her at first.
"Yeah. He was washing his clothes and tried hiding his hoodie." Her smile can be heard across the phone.
Cementoss sighed, "I know how you feel about vigilantes, so I'm not going to ask you who it is."
"Oh yeah, I'm not telling you. He's one of the good ones"
"Figured. So did you say something to him?"
"Yeah. He's a nice kid. Had a rip in the sweater so I pointed it out. I wonder why he was so spooked by me after i told him my opinion." She knew exactly why, just wanted to hear her friend admit he couldn't catch him.
"Yeah. I tried that on him. Didn't work as well as i wanted it to" He disappointedly replied. Midnight laughed at his reply.
"I'm surprised you even managed to find the kid. He's too fast for anyone to catch. I wouldn't be surprised if he could outrun Snipe's bullets." Cementoss seemed impressed by the kids abilities.
"Yeah, his boots are well made." Something inside of Midnight's head clicked. She never has seen this kid use his quirk. In fact everything he did was with gear in not a quirk. She remembered the fact the kid had horns on before with a planet and now there wasn't even a resemblance of the horns even existing.
"Yeah his gear is surprisingly well made .Welp i got to go. These clothes aren't going to fold themselves She replied with a false reason. Her real reason was to look up a bit more about the vigilante now.
