Lily
Technically speaking I am to be at fault because I was the fucking idiot who went to the interview at first place and somehow even managed to get selected. What a pathetic story to tell my grandkids, ugh!
For the very same purpose, I've been gearing up for my first day at work. As always I didn't get the sleep that a normally functioning human is supposed to have. I am not even closer to being average of normal, let alone talk about being stable. It's a miracle if one must think that how I survive either on no sleep or weird sleep, yet somehow a few peaceful minutes are okay to me.
The last of clothes I had that could be categorized under normal and sophisticated office wear were already sticking to my body. My hair needed a trim though but for temporary being I go with a ponytail managing to hid the roughness and dullness of my hair alongside an oil spray which I found at Dollar store under some cents that don't make a hole in my already poked wallet.
My bag was ready and my body was ready but my mind was screaming a big NO. So far the only encounters I had with Jeremy were countable on one tiny finger and none of them involved anything personal which meant a victory for me. After all its been 7 years since all the chaos yet somehow this idiot named Jeremy still bothers me the same way he did in class 11 and now I was going to work in his company and for him.
I look down to my phone and mentally assure myself that we'll manage fine with a broken screen till our first salary pay roll enters our bank account. The truth was that with this kind of job I needed a better working phone but who needs a better working phone when life itself had a broken screen.
Outside my apartment, I wait for the bus to show up. The bus ride was usual with people heading for work, colleges and all combined with me plugging in to my Taylor Swift concert- this time with the album 'Lover' Joe Alwyn is a lucky guy. I mean imagine taylor Swift writing love songs about you.
I hop down to my stop and start my walk to work which takes me another 10 minutes. Gods must be having a nice entertainment because I landed a job in the company of a person I had been avoiding for the years I hauled my ass back here. I was better off in London because no purpose of mine had been fulfilled here and in fact the trouble list lengthened to thrice just by the name I hate the most- Jeremy Nicholas Langford.
Inside the building I walk to Lana and greet her. She greets me back and hands me my employee identification card with which I head to the devil's spawn in suit's floor. The floor was eerily silent meaning Jeremy is yet to show up. I sigh and make my way to the cabin I was showed yesterday.
Pushing open the door I walk in, place my bag on the desk and was about to head down for an early morning caffeine intake when my eyes land on the boxes kept on table. Tapping the desk I observe carefully and find a Macbook placed on the table and beside it was a box of a brand new iPhone and no kidding it was the latest version.
Suspiciously enough, the macbook was opened and somebody had logged in with office details but the box of phone was packed and had a white stick note on it. Leaving the laptop I pick up the sticky note off the box and read it.
Sorry for the phone. Jeremy
What the unbelievable fuck!
No way, I blink once and then twice and then again and find the writing of the note the exact same. The dude had literally signed a 'J' beside his name. The handwriting for sure belonged to him but the most astonishing thing that ever happened to me was Jeremy apologizing when I didn't even said a word to him about anything. My eyes were wide like saucers reading the note.
I fist the note in my hand and was about to storm out to Jeremy's cabin when there is a knock on my door and Emma walks in. We greet each other and she eyes at the desk, "so I am guessing you already went through your new laptop." I frown to which she answers, "honey, it's on the company and you are a PA so it's a must." "even the phone?" I ask. "What phone ?" she asks.
