Lily
I watch Jeremy tuck Hannah to sleep and walk towards me. Closing the door behind us, I ask him, "Are you going to work today as well?" He's been working late nights since last 1 week in his office at home. He nods, "It's a big deal for me and I need it done."
The same response since last 7 days, I sigh and wrap my arms around him, "catch a break" – I say – "I am worried about your health." He ran his soothing hand in my hair and sighed, "don't worry, nothing's gonna happen." We pull apart, he kissed me deeply, "go to sleep, I'll be back as soon as I am done." I nod and peck him on cheek, "be quick." He chuckled and was off to his office while I head back to our bedroom.
My eyes open to Jeremy sleeping with an arm around my waist. I turn and place a hand to his jaw. "What time is it?" he asks in his sleep voice, eyes still closed. A chuckle slipped past my lips yet I look up to see it being 6 in the morning. "it's 6 o'clock" – I say – "go back to sleep, I'll wake you up at 7."
I try getting out of his hold but he pulled me closer, "stay back, Lizzie" – he says – "we are married." I smile, "that we are" – I struggle getting out of his hold – "but I need to prepare Hannah for her school." He whined, a second later he pulled my face down and placed a deep and sensual kiss on the nape of my neck, all with eyes closed. Giggling, I was out of the bed, leaving him to complete his sleep.
Hannah left for school while I head to our bedroom to see Jeremy styling his hair. Dressed in dark blue pants, white shirt and dark blue blazer jacket, his hands were busy adjusting his hair. I walk closer and stand between him and the mirror. My hands adjust his tie and I pat his chest with my hands, "all set." He smiled, "I love you, Mrs Langford." Heat crawled up my cheeks, "I love you too, Mr Langford." He smashed his lips to mine.
The day ended too fast and I was worried because Jeremy stayed awake all night for this deal he says is a bigger one for him. My doubt was starting to grow because there was no way he had a deal that could go on this long. For all the time I've worked with him, there was no way it takes this much time for Jeremy to close a deal.
The week went by but I couldn't find anything on this deal he was working on. It was Sunday, so Hannah asked to go at Jeremy's parent's place. She loves spending time with them and is always eager to have some fun time there. Suspiciously enough, Jeremy was earlier in dropping Hannah off and while he was at it, I thought about starting my work on lunch.
An hour later, the doorbell rang. I open the door to Jeremy holding boxes and flowers in his hands. Shock, I ask him, "what's all these?" "For you" – he says and walks inside. He places the boxes on the coffee table of the living room while handing the white, blue, pink peonies bouquet to me.
I take it and smile, "thank you." He nods to the boxes, "go on, open them." I sit on the couch and look down to the pink box that was smaller compared to the other two, "what are these boxes about?" I open the box and it almost slipped out of my hand.
There were 2 tickets to Taylor Swift's The Eras Tour concert.
I was on my feet; jumping in excitement and once recovered I throw myself into Jeremy's arms, "thank you so much." I couldn't keep in the emotions about going to the concert. I was literally jumping on my feet. Jeremy held me by arms and said, "calm down, you have 2 more surprises to open."
He placed me down on the couch and I open the other light blue box and to my utter shock there were bracelets made of beads. The bracelets had all her albums spelled individually, one spelled 'Taylor Swift', others had our names on it, 'Lily', 'Jeremy' and 2 similar looking ones had 'L&J' made of heart shaped beads.
Before I could jump in excitement, Jeremy captured my arms and signalled to the last box, "one more." "Okay" – I breathe once and open the box to find clothes in it. They were our concert clothes. I pick every single one out and check. My nerves were giddy and there came my breaking point.
I was up on my feet shouting, "we are going to The Eras Tour, woo hoo." I throw myself into Jeremy's arms and keep on repeating 'thank you' until he says, "Happy Birthday in Advance, Lizzie, I love you." I pull apart once, grab his face with both my hands and with a huge smile on my face say, "I love you, Jeremy", before smashing my lips to his.
"Were you by any chance" – I ask – "making the bracelets during all those nights you stayed up?"
He nods, "I wasn't going to let you wear those made by someone else, if we are going there, and we are going with full preparations."
My heart was beating too fast for my liking; there were too many surprises to deal with.
