What a fool I was to fucking Google about this Cardan and Jude because fuck my life, they are fictional, fucking fictional. But Lily gushing about them was irking me and I was more than quick enough to google the shit on them and when the results popped up on my screen I wished I could punch myself in the fucking face.

But Ian? She didn't mention shit about that Ian guy. I am taking a wild guess that it didn't go well. I chuckle in an empty cabin, oh so good for him. Lily was a person with jumbled ways to her heart. The best mapmaker in the world or in the galaxy would fail to map the way to her heart. Like some wise old man, one needed to solve that puzzle one by one.

Me? if it were to me, I'd run a fucking bulldozer over those jumbles, quick and easy. But I wasn't the fool to disturb the peace between us, not after so many years.

But the images of her with Ian were threatening to rise up from my imagination and flash in front of my eyes. Speaking of which, I was on my 3rd cup of black coffee so I call Lily to bring me another one. I hear her snort but cut the call and knock on my door a few minutes later.

After my reply she waltzes in and places my mug on the desk with a thud louder than usual. That irks my headache and I raise an eyebrow at her. She folds her arms across her chest and huffs, "aren't you drinking more caffeine than necessary?"

"I had a shitty week unlike others plus a headache", I tell her and bring my eyes back to the papers I was working on. She stays rooted to her place. I look up to her and blink once. "anything else?" she asks. I shake my head in dismissal, "get back to your work Miss Pierce."

"your unnecessary caffeine consumption hampers with my concentration on work"

I straighten in my seat and look at her, carefully. Those silver grey eyes, a few freckles around that super cute nose, plush lips and that gorgeous ever black hair tied up in a ponytail making her look like a beautiful vixen howling under a full moon night. The moon light twinkling in her silver grey eyes, the image alone felt more than breath-taking, if only someone were to fan art my imagination of Lily, but here she is!

"okay" –I say- "I'll stop but if the threshold of my headache rises I may call again."

"ask your headache to take a break, why make my cramps worse" she rolls her eyes and I swear to God, this little flower knew how to get on my nerves.

"Miss Pierce" –she looks straight in my eyes and for a second I almost forgot why she was annoying me- "you can go back to your work." She sighs, spins on her heels and was out of my cabin in the very next second.

Afternoon rolls by, with us working separately in our cabins. I was about to head out to get myself some lunch when the door opens and Jayden walks in. He had a huge smile plastered on his face.

Another fucker that could possibly have his eyes on Lily.

I raise an eyebrow, "Jayden!" "thought I could give you some news and lunch"- extending the takeout bag he was carrying in his hands that went unnoticed by me earlier. "what news" I ask while making space on my desk for the food to be placed.

He takes a seat in front of me, starts opening the bag and laying out bowls, "there is a business gala next week." I hated going to this stupid galas and shits.

According to my dad, it was a best chance to have an upper hand in potential big scale investors but I hated the idea of mingling with brainless men in ties. There was a gala I had to attend as a compulsion after taking over our family business because dad wanted me to have my picture pasted in business world as he says and I quote, 'the new Langford who will fuck their business'. He was not wrong though, but that was the only gala I attended and this was something 2 years back.
