I feel like it's been a long time since I've felt this peaceful. Tess is holding my left arm, with her head leaning on my shoulder, and Sylvie on top of me. Under the setting sun, this tranquil walk seemed to make all my worries fade away as I leaned back into my childhood friend.

We both walked with a subtle, yet visible blush on our faces as we both enjoyed the moment, but were still embarrassed by the amount of contact we were experiencing.

After a few minutes of walking together, we reached the front gate of the school, as Tessia quickly threw herself off of me and broke the silence.

"Don't question it, just play along." She muttered, before approaching the security guard.

"Student Council President? What business do you have in leaving the school at this hour?" The guard asked.

"I'm on official duty on the behalf of Director Goodsky. Captain Leywin is escorting me for safety purposes." Tessia spoke in a graceful yet neutral tone.

"Do you have any paperwork to confirm?" She then pulled out a piece of paper from her dimensional ring.

"It checks out, but there is no authorization for Captain Leywin here." The guard was starting to get suspicious.

At this point I knew exactly what Tess was trying to do, and interjected in the conversation.

"This was a last minute request made by Elder Virion himself, with the purpose of keeping his granddaughter safe." I uttered, as I pulled out the compass which contained the Elven Royal Crest. "A carriage is already awaiting the Princess."

Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed the second guard, a tall elven man, walk up to me after hearing my claim. He took the item and nodded at the guard interrogating us.

"The engraved crest checks out...It has been entrusted by the royal family themselves." He spoke in an impressed tone.

With a nervous look on his face, the guard sighed as he allowed us passage.

"Stay safe and be back by the arranged time President."

With a nod, we both exited the school premises and entered the singular carriage that was awaiting us.

As we got in, I flicked Tessia's forehead.

"Did you really lie to the Director to get us out of the school?" I asked in a teasing tone.

"Ouch! You have NO idea what kind of strings I pulled to get this to happen.." She spoke softly as she took a seat next to me.

She put in this much effort just for a night out? I asked myself.

"Yes papa, so be appreciative of your friend who cares for you so dearly." Sylvie butted into my thoughts, scolding me.

Wanting to get more answers as to how she managed this, I turned to Tessia.

"What did you do exactly?"

"Eh... I may have fooled Director Goodsky into thinking I was meeting grandpa tonight, and I may have told grandpa that I was out on official business and got him to send a carriage." She giggled.

"And why did you go through all the effort to do that?"

"Because I wanted our first night out together in years to be one to remember." She spoke in a softer tone as she leaned on me again.

My heart can't handle this.

Upon reaching the heart of the city, Tess and I jumped out, as Sylvie ran off in another direction.

"Sylv, where are you going?!" I didn't get an answer, only feeling a tug from my side.

"She'll be fine. Now come on, we don't have all night!" She beamed, pulling me along.
