Arthur Leywin POV
I was currently sitting in the carriage, and on my way to the Xyrus Royal Palace. Across from me sat a hooded figure, their defining features not visible as to conceal their identity. Seris didn't do much talking, likely wary of being overheard.
She had come along with me as insurance. What would occur behind those closed doors was going to be unpredictable, to say the least. Despite the morally correct decision being apparent, politics can change on a whim.
The ride came to an end, and what awaited me surprised me pleasantly. Outside the set of gates, Tessia, alongside Sylvie stood side by side, waiting for me.
"W-What are you two doing here?" I asked, a surprised smile plastering my face.
"Just came to wish you luck, since we didn't see you this morning." Tess leaned in for a quick peck, smiling away to herself.
"Can I go with you papa?" Sylvie pleaded, puppy eyes making my heart ache.
"Sorry Sylv. You can't come whilst you're in the form..." Her head bobbed down in disappointment. Tess brought her closer, rustling her hair in comfort.
"Don't worry. We'll see you later, yeah?" My fiancé brought the three of us into a hug. I nodded in confirmation before presenting myself to the guards.
"Arthur Leywin. I'm here for a meeting with the council." I affirmed. The guard pulled up a piece of paper, reading over it quickly before nodding, extending his arm and allowing me passage.
Seris watched on as I entered whilst being escorted by two guards. Entering through the set of massive double doors, the Palace had not changed a bit since I was last here.
Thinking back, the last time I had been present was when I first met Agrona, and heard about the shocking news involving Sylvie, and the Ancient Mages. Reminiscing about the past made me lose track of time, and before I knew it, I was once again ready to face the Council.
Stepping into the room, the representatives sat at a semi-circle table, all of them facing towards me. The Elves, including Gramps, looked upon me with a warm look and a small smile. On the other hand... Blayne Glayder and the Dwarven councilmen had a menacing scowl, staring deep within and past me. Priscilla on the other hand, held the same type of cold, yet neutral expression as her daughter.
"With the arrival of Arthur Leywin, we shall now commence the trial." Blayne spoke simply, an attempt of calming his tone was made, but the underlying anger in him still came out.
The side doors of the room opened up, revealing Bairon Wykes, the piece of shit, power abusing lance. His expression was that of extreme frustration and anger as he stared holes through me.
But despite his situation, he wasn't... Cuffed up? Surely they would make sure to chain up criminals here... Right?
Pulling out a large scroll, almost as bi as his tiny body, Dawsid began to speak.
"Greetings to all Councilmen, representatives and attendees present. Today, we have gathered to pass judgment upon Arthur Leywin." I felt my body instinctively recoil at his words.
They're putting... Me on trial? Looking towards my future mother and father-in-law, their expressions showed the same shock as my own.
"During the incident, it has been reported that Lance Thunderlord was wrongfully assaulted by Mr. Leywin, ultimately harming and incapacitating him. For this-"
"What is this nonsense?!" Virion shouted out, standing up from his seat completely outraged.
"The boy must face the consequences of his actions." Glaudera spat, her arms crossed and a disapproving look on her face.
