Tessia Eralith POV
As Arthur attended the urgent meeting, myself along with Ellie and Alice sat on a set of plumb sofas, each one of us with a cup of hot tea in hand whilst Ellie sipped a glass of fruit juice.
"How much longer is Brother and Daddy going to take?" Ellie asked curiously, likely concerned for their wellbeing.
"It won't be long now, honey." Alice stroked her hair whilst wearing a sad smile.
This sudden relocation has taken its toll on all of us. Knowing that we had to leave our old lives behind, even if it is temporary, has stressed everyone out immensely.
I felt the same way. Knowing that all of my friends at school were likely to be questioned, along with all and any acquaintances of mine and Arthur's family was nerve racking. I suppose we can only wait and hope they aren't treated poorly...
Breaking me out of my daydream, the present maid opened the door, revealing my mom and dad alongside grandpa, who all wore concerned looks. Slogging behind them was Reynolds who looked even worse for wear than anyone else.
"Honey, what happened? And where's Arthur?" Alice shot up, bringing her husband into her arms.
"He's... With Agrona. B-But he..." The poor man managed to spit out before his hands began to tremble violently.
"He's leaving." Father spoke clearly.
Leaving? Where to? Is he abandoning them?
"Arthur, what the hell is your dad telling us?!" I connected to him mentally, my voice etched with concern.
"I need to enter the Relictombs, Tess. I have no other choice." He didn't falter to answer, determined in his goal.
From the stories that Agrona has told us, the Relictombs are much like our dungeons, only far more dangerous and risky. Its aetheric properties, coupled with the Djinn architecture make it a death trap for anyone not sufficiently prepared.
"There's always another option! You can't leave us Arthur! You can't leave... Me..." I felt myself breaking down as tears began to roll down my face.
Gramps noticed my state as he quickly rushed to my side, bringing me into a hug.
"I'm the only one who can bring things back to normal without inciting a Civil War. Not only that... They've been calling me Tess. The Ancient Mages." My breathing stifled momentarily upon hearing this.
More and more questions began to arise within me, but no answer to ease my worries.
"Let me come with you."
Arthur's my fiancé, my confidant, and lifelong friend. The day we finally reunited, I vowed to never leave his side again. We're a couple, so we do these things together.
I felt the hesitation in his heart through our connection, but after a few seconds, he gave me his answer.
"Only if Gramps agrees."
Without hesitation, I wiped away the tears and pulled myself away from my Grandfather's embrace.
"Grandpa, I'm going with him," Everyone's eyes widened in shock at my words. Mom and dad hastily made their way towards me as both of them shook in disbelief before grandpa put his hand out, stopping them.
"Why?" The old man asked simply.
"If you honestly think I'm going to let Arthur take on all of these burdens alone, you couldn't be further from the truth." I inhaled deeply, my expression now confident. "May I go now?"
His serious expression contorted into a soft smile as he hugged me once more before ushering me out.
"Go. I'll take care of everyone here." He waved me off as I sprinted down the corridor.
After a few minutes, I arrived at the same set of large metal doors. The guards opened them up as I ran past them and into my lover's arms.
"We're going together." I mumbled into his chest. I felt his rough hand on the back of my head, stroking away
I felt his body heave as he giggled softly, before a certain little girl interrupted.
"I'm glad you're going too mama, but I think we have more important things to do." Sylvie laughed whilst looking over at us with playful eyes. Looking up, Agrona wore an amused smirk.
"We are assembling a team of only the finest candidates. You shall dive alongside them." HE affirmed whilst crossing his arms. "I do hope you're up to the task, Tessia."
"With Arthur, I'll face the world if necessary." His smirk grew upon hearing my witty remark.
That's the spirit.
Kai Crestless POV
Our glasses clicked together as the bustling of guests and waiters could be heard in the background of the celebratory party.
Generals, merchants, spies. Everyone under our wing, and all those loyal were present as they celebrated our ascension.
The throne is ours.
Both father and uncle wore satisfied grins as they poured out another bottle of some of our finest reserves. Their cheeks slowly became redder as they became louder by the passing minute.
"The Elven Empire is now free game!" Uncle gave off a belly laugh, spilling some of the contents from his glass in the process.
"It won't be long until the whole continent is ours!" Father celebrated, gulping down half of his wine in one go.
To say they were both jolly would be an underestimation. Not only them, but most of our higher ranking associates shared this feeling of victory.
I myself couldn't be happier. My efforts have finally paid off, despite a very bumpy road. But despite that, a feeling of dread sat in the back of my head.
The feeling that all wouldn't be as easy from here on out as we might like.
Like a barrier stood before us, ready to break us down.
We had heard about how the Leywin boy wasn't dead, and had now been taken under the protection of the Alacryans.
Father believes they won't be trying anything, as that could spark an all out war. He also thinks that the Eraliths have grown soft, and that they won't be returning out of cowardice.
I do hope he is correct... But this feeling... This dread...
It stirs within me...

Anywho, I got some pretty good news today...
