Chapter 16 - Communication

As the sun shone through the bedroom window and landed on my eyelids, I slowly came to my senses and woke myself up. I could feel the damp covers and sheets around my shirtless torso from last night's sweat. Huddled to my side, Tess was still dressed in the revealing nightgown, her hair dishevelled beyond belief, and neck broozed in several spots.

I lightly shook her shoulder in an attempt to wake her up. She gave off a little grunt, but to no avail.

Alright, time for some payback.

Lowering myself down, I brought my face right next to hers, biting her pointed ear. Immediately she shot up with a squeak.

"Eek! Art? What are you doing?" She gave me a confused and cautious look.

"Just waking my fiancé up." I winked.

"I don't think nibbling my ear is the best way to do so."

"I don't think throwing yourself on me is the best way to do so." I shot back.

"Touché." She giggled.

Tess stretched her body like a cat before getting up and off the bed. She walked around it, eventually standing in front of me, before leaning down and giving me a smooch and licking her lips.

"Last night was fun..." She whispered, a soft pink arising from her cheeks.

"I'll have to agree with you on that." I got myself off the bed and kissed her forehead. "Now go and get showered, we need to leave soon."

We got ourselves ready in between some lustful and teasing staring as we laughed before heading to the main entrance of the palace.

As we arrived, the Twin Horns were already waiting in their respective carriage. My mother, father and sister, alongside Alduin, Merial and Virion, were standing outside waiting for us to arrive.

As we walked towards them together, their faces contorted from happy to shocked to teasing. I could even feel Sylvie chuckling in my mind.

"As sorry as I am to say this, you unfortunately cannot literally eat my granddaughter, brat." Everyone broke down laughing as he said this, Tess running past them and into the carriage out of embarrassment.

I rolled my eyes at the smug adults and confused sister.

"I'm well aware, Gramps." I grinned. "At least I'm holding myself back from that damn cactus."

He only gave me a satisfied nod at my proof of self restraint as we began to enter the remaining carriages. Myself, Ellie, Reynolds and Alice went with Tessia in one, as Alduin, Merial and Virion went in another.

"Why are you going separately?" I walked my future father-in-law.

"The council has been called to a meeting of utmost importance. But don't worry, once it ends my father will meet you both and begin Tessia's Assimilation process as promised." He gave me a proud smile.

I nodded to him as I got into our carriage. As I stepped in, a loud smack hit my back. My dad had slapped my back as he began laughing frantically.

"Goddamn Art, I didn't know you had it in you!" He wheezed. "But please tell me you didn't do it."

"Don't worry. I'm keeping my promise to Virion." I smiled nervously.

After a scolding from my mother, my father began to calm down and apologize. Tess was looking out of the window as she attempted to avoid all contact out of embarrassment, now realizing how helpful a bit of makeup would have been right now.

The ride back to the teleporter was nice, as we chatted about how beautiful the ceremony from yesterday was, how they enjoyed themselves at the party, Alice and Ellie fawning over our bracelets once again, and a little bit of teasing from everyone.
