Chapter 14

As blood drips from my stomach I await death. But it doesn't come. I don't even get weak or feel pain. Why am I not dying? I pull the knife out. The blood is there for a second then disappears. I look down at myself. The wound has healed and there is no blood, it's gone. As the weight of the situation hits me I start shaking uncontrollably. I just tried to commit suicide. Tears stream down my face and I drop the knife. I stumble backward and someone catches me. I nearly jump out of my skin as I turn around and see Max and Lexi behind me. I immediately hug Max and he strokes my hair, "It's ok, you're ok." I continue to cry into his shoulder for what seems to be an eternity. When we break apart I turn to Lexi. As she hugs me I whisper in her ear, "How did I not die?" "It's a witch thing," she answers, "The only way you can die is from old age and other spells. A knife or bullet wound will do shit." We break apart and I wipe my tears, "How did you guys find me?" "I knew once you left something was up. I took Max and we went outside just in time to see you teleport. I teleported us here thinking that you might do something like this. We just caught up to you when you-" Lexi cuts herself off. "It scared the fuck out of me." Max is on the verge of tears, "Lexi kept me from screaming out, explaining to me how you wouldn't die." Wow, you couldn't even kill yourself properly. Seriously what are you good for? "Shut up." "Don't listen to her," Max says before he kisses me on the forehead.

"Wow, I knew you were unstable but this is at a whole nother level." I tense up. I recognize that voice. It's Addie's. I turn around and see Addie leaning against a tree. Her hair is in a braid and she is dressed in all black. She has nude lips and smokey-eye make-up. She looks completely different. "Why are you here?" I ask shifting my weight to my left leg. "Just following orders. Or doing favors. Both the same to me. In my family, it's all that matters. Eachother. Your dad didn't get the memo." I take a step back in surprise. That bitch did not just go there. Max steps in front of me, "How low will you go?" This is my chance. I lean down to grab the knife and throw it at Addie hitting her in the shoulder pinning her to a tree. I know it won't do anything but it felt good. "Max! Woods now!" Max sends me a worried glance but runs into the tree line anyways. Addie pulls the knife out and shoots the same spell as before at me. This time I am able to dodge it however and I roll next to Lexi. Lexi shoots different spells that I can't really identify. I jump up and start firing different stunning spells, lacerations spells, and more fighting spells. It just feels natural to me. Finally Lexi and I both land a paralyzation spell at the same time and Addie falls to the ground. Lexi has a shallow cut on her left cheek and I have some bruises but for the most part, we're ok.

I walk up to Addie, "Why?" Addie looks up at me with a stupid smile on her face. I kick her in my stomach and force her against a tree, "Why?!" Addie laughs, and says, "Well I'd do anything for my mom."
