Chapter 31

Max, Bre, and I are making our way across the field. We're about halfway through when a sharp pain enters my head. I clutch my head and drop like a brick. "Sally! What's wrong?!" Max drops by my side but quickly backs up. I open my eyes and see a green glow around my body. I see Max take out a green crystal and say Lexi's name, within seconds she's there. "What's going o-? Fuck." Lexi drops next to me, "Sally, breath. You have to fight it, it's not safe to confront her here. I-" but Lexi is cut off and thrown away from me. Next thing I know I'm thrown back and I look up to see Skylee in front of me.

I get to my feet, panicking. Max, Bre, and Lexi also run over to me. "Guess we don't have a choice." I say prepared to fight. Skylee is not winning, not this time.

"Oh Sally, I wanted to do this peacefully," Skylee says.

"No you fucking didn't. You never wanted anything to be peaceful. Right out the bat you possessed me!"

"Kids never understand. Always so quick to judge, to be the good guy."

I laugh, "I'll be the first to admit, I am no hero. I don't care what your reasoning is. All I know is that you put my friends in danger."

"'I'm no hero', says every hero ever. Look if I let you win, you will just spare me. And then the loop will continue."

I shoot a spell and Skylee narrowly dodges it, "Like I said, I'm no hero."

Skylee, now pissed, immediately starts shooting spells at us. Green and white beams of light shoots past us and we send Purple and black ones back. "Bre! Max! Get out of here!" I yell, Bre yells back, "What?! No!" Max joins in, "I'm not leaving you!" "You guys can't defend yourself! Without magic you're dead meat!" "Try me." Max says. I roll my eyes and continue fighting. As we fight I notice a knife in Max's hand. What does he expect to do with that? Skylee might be a bitch but she's not dumb. Lexi teleports next to me, "Okay it's clear we're not going to take Skylee down just by shooting spells and praying-" we doge a spell, "-There is a spell we can use but you have to do it cause- -She possessed you.- -It takes a while to charge up though so- -we have to plan this out." I dive out of the way of a white beam, "- Ok so what do we do?" In between ducking and dodging spells Lexi explains to me how to perform the Seikomierda spell. "Okay..." I say, "But how do I charge it? Skylee- -will target me as soon as she- -sees me doing it." Lexi trips but quickly recovers, "This will take an insane amount of energy but if we do it right it shouldn't matter.- -You'll need to teleport away, cast the spell, and right before its done- -teleport back and shoot." I nodd. I don't think I'll have enough energy to do this but we have to try. Bre flies past us landing hard on the ground, she quickly pushes herself up and doge an incoming spell.

I look around. Everyone is staring at me and Skylee. All of them with their mouths hanging open stupidly. So much for keeping this a secret. I shake the thought out of my head. I need to focus on this now. I dodge a spell but unexpectedly it explodes into a green fire ball of fury. I go flying back and land on my feet. I stumble back and fall into Max's arms. "Are you okay?" he asks, pushing me onto my feet. "Yeah, I'm fine. You need to get out of here."

"No."

"Yes."

"No."

"Yes."

"No."

"Yes."

"No."

"Yes."

"No."

"Max for the love of satan."

We dodge another spell and Max gives me his 'I'm too fucking stubborn' look. "Max, if you die, I'm killing you." Max laughs as I run to get further away from Skylee.

I take a deep breath and go to teleport but instead I end up in front of Skylee. I panic and try to move then realize I can't. "H-hey! I can't move!" Bre yelps. "I can't either..." Lexi says. Skylee laughs, "Why do you always fight death?" My eyes widen, no, no it's not possible. T-this is my dream. I fight to move, to teleport, do anything, but it's no use. I glare at Skylee. Suddenly I start puking blue blood. A lot of it. When I'm finally done I feel lightheaded. I look up and see My mom walking up to Skylee. My heart drops and I blink back tears. She's covered in blood, wearing the same blue dress I found her in. Her face looks wrong, I don't know why but she doesn't look normal. I can visibly see tears stream down her face, her eyes bloodshot, she looks like she hasn't slept for days, maybe even weeks. Despite this, My mother is wearing the brightest smile I have ever seen her wear. She gives Skylee a hug then looks around. Once her eyes land on me her face changes. Her face deforms into the menacing and angry mom I knew from a few days ago. "YOU!" She screams causing me to wince, "YOU, did this to me. YOU pushed me to this! I was your MOTHER! I did EVERYTHING for you! How DARE YOU!?" She is trembling with rage. She turns back to Skylee, "Kill her." Skylee smiles and shoots a red spell at me. I panic and try to move but can't. "SALLY!" I hear Max cry out behind me. I brace myself for the incoming spell.

Bre throws herself infront of me and is hit square in the chest. "BRE!" I scream as she falls back into my arms. She starts coughing up some blood, then more blood, then a lot of blood. Bre smiles at me, "Hey.... I was able to help... " I shake my head. No, no this can't be happening. "H-hey, don't say that. Y-you'll be okay. Y-y-you'll see." We both know that's a lie. A spell narrowly misses me and I know I have to get up and fight. I look up, tears in my eyes. Max is standing there just staring at Bre, pure and utter shock fills his face. "M-Max I need you to stay with her." Max nods and takes my place by her side. "I will be back." I say turning back. Skylee's done it now. Skylee will die. I take a deep breath and teleport away.
