The car ride to the police station was silent and tense. Steve was fidgeting in worry. Tony was uncharacteristically silent while Pepper's mind was filled with worry. She personally didn't know Yelena very well but she couldn't imagine how Natasha felt. Natasha had gone through so much and Pepper couldn't imagine how this would add to her mental health. And then there was Kate. The sweet, always happy girl. Clint had welcomed Kate into his family with open arms and considered her his daughter. Pepper had watched her grow from the cheery, happy teen to the mature and kind-hearted young lady. When she met Yelena, Pepper finally saw how they both brought out the best in each other. Kate brought out Yelena's soft side and Yelena brought out Kate's sass. She didn't want Kate to have to suffer the pain of her loved one getting into trouble constantly. Like she had. Morgan was smiling giddily nearly bouncing in her seat. "I'm so excited to see Auntie Yelena in jail!!!" She exclaimed her giggles loud and happy. They walked into the station all tensed up. Pepper clutched onto Morgan's hand letting Tony wrap an arm around her shoulders. The sight that sat before them made Pepper want to cry. Kate sat there head in her hands her body shaking with sobs. Natasha sat beside her, her face composed but Pepper could see the pain in her eyes. Pepper's face fell. She wrapped Kate in a hug letting her sob into her shoulder.
"Why are they all sad Daddy this is gonna be so fun!" Morgan squealed as Tony stifled a laugh.
"Nat baby what's going on?" Steve asked wrapping her in a hug.
"The infamous black widow accepting a hug?" Tony mocked earning a sharp glare from Morgan
"Tony this isn't a time to be joking around." She said mocking Pepper.
"My name is Daddy young lady," Tony said reaching to tickle her.
"She's in here for a month." Natasha said her voice gravelly and full of tears "After that she's going to have to do two years of community service no appeal." Pepper felt her own eyes fill up with tears.
"I'm so sorry." Pepper apologized continuously finally letting Kate go "If you ever need somewhere to stay you can always stay with us." Pepper offered. Kate smiled but shook her head
"I'm alright but thanks, Miss. Potts." Pepper sent her a look
"Call me Pepper, How many times have I told you that?"
"Sorry," Kate responded smiling sheepishly.
"Are you going to go back to your apartment in New York?" Natasha questioned worriedly for her. Kate shook her head
"I really don't wanna be alone right now. Lucky and I are gonna go stay on the farm with Clint for a little while." They all nodded.
"I'll drive you there if you want?" Steve offered to which she nodded, following him out. Natasha lifted Morgan onto her hip carrying her out sensing Pepper and Tony needed a moment.
"What if that had been you, Tony?" Pepper asked her voice soft as she met his gaze. "What if you had been arrested?" Tony didn't respond merely wrapping her into a hug
"But I wasn't." He responded.
"But what if you were!" She exclaimed pulling away "You have to promise to me you'll never do all that ever again Tony!" Tony could tell she wasn't joking so he nodded
"I promise." She nodded regaining her composure
"Good." Tony laced his fingers with her as they left worry still surrounding both of them.
