I've Missed You

Pepper avoided Tony like the plague for weeks after the kiss. She ignored his calls and all his attempts to see her until one day. Morgan was spending the day with Nat and Steve so Pepper finally had a day all to herself. No more Morgan screaming about everything, no more cartoons playing all day, or tantrums about going to sleep. Her thoughts were silenced by a loud knock on the front door. She let out a sigh.

"Coming!" She shouted making her way towards the entrance but froze as she opened the door.

"Hi Pep." Tony sighed glancing at her with a sad smile toying at his lips. She suddenly felt a huge load of guilt for how she had treated him the past few weeks.

 "Tony hi." She said breathlessly not taking her eyes off of him.

"Pep listen I..." She cut him off

"No Tony I'm really sorry it wasn't okay for me to completely ghost you I feel really bad I just got scared." Tony seemed shocked by her apology but settled into a smile

"It's okay I get it." he said softly as she let him in "but I do need to talk to you." Pepper nodded knowing the conversation that was about to happen. "I don't want to hurt you again Pep that is not my intention but I do really want to be a part of your life and I understand if you don't want me to be someone romantic to you but I just really need to know." Pepper felt her jaw drop at Tony's maturity.

"I've missed you, Tony." She finally confessed feeling a weight lift off her chest "life without you has not been the same." She felt her face burn at the confession but within seconds he'd wrapped her in for a hug. She felt herself relax as his arms wrapped around her body.

"I missed you so god damn much Pep," he said in a choked voice making her realize he was crying.

"I missed you too." She responded her voice just as tear-filled as he was. Boy had she missed this. As the two of them stood there for a fleeting moment Pepper felt a sense of comfort. Maybe everything would be alright.
