9th October: Cardiff
Today was the day Andrea and the rest of the band were worrying about. They were heading to the airport at seven-thirty to get a plane to Düsseldorf for their first show in Europe. A part of Andrea was excited, but this would be her first time away from her family for a long period. The next time she would see her family would be on the 22nd of November which felt like an eternity away.
Both of the bands were currently at a park in Cardiff just relaxing. Occasionally a few people would come and say hello and ask for pictures, but other than that it was rather peaceful.
Andrea was talking to Everly about a new song idea, but she honestly couldn't concentrate for two reasons, one of them was the fact that in about an hour they were all meeting up with their families for the last time for lunch before they all left and two Andrea's eyes couldn't keep away from Calum. He was talking to Michael about something that didn't seem at all interesting to Calum's facial expressions.
Everly had decided to leave Andrea alone as she could obviously tell her mind was elsewhere. Ashton could tell something was up so he went and sat next to the bassist.
"It's ok to be nervous about leaving your family for the first time," he said sincerely, "it's completely normal, we might've been younger at the time, but we all felt the exact same."
"I know it's stupid, but I'm worried my mum will be alone and I hate thinking that," Andrea sighed, "my grandparents are supposed to be moving in soon, but there were complications with selling their own house."
"Your feelings aren't stupid," he took a bite of the mango he was eating before continuing, "I know it's not the same but we have technology so we can easily get in touch."
Ashton was right, but it still didn't help Andrea one bit. Her mum would be alone until her grandparents could move in with her and nobody knew when that was. She knew she had a phone for a reason, but in different countries, there will be different time zones and Andrea would hate to wake her mum whilst she was sleeping.
"At the moment you think nothing is going to be ok but in all honesty, it will be," Ashton was one of Andrea's favourite people right now, "anyway me and the guys will look after you all."
After they had cleared up the place where they were sitting, both bands began walking to the restaurant where they were going for lunch. Calum had noticed Andrea talking to Ashton earlier, he noticed how her mood changed and it still hadn't seemed to have picked up. He felt bad that he didn't comfort her, but that was something he was planning on doing now and later.
Andrea smiled up at Calum when she found him walking beside her with his hands in his pockets. Both of the bassists stayed quiet for a bit, just listening to the story Ashton was telling in front of them.
"Are you ok?" Calum finally asked quietly.
She nodded hesitantly, "I will be," she replied, "it's just one of those things, you know?"
"Totally," he smiled reassuringly, "you'll have lots of things to take your mind off it anyway." They continue walking at the back of the group just casually talking and listening to the other's conversation.
Andrea still wasn't looking forward to leaving her family. She knew this lunch was going to end on a sad note. The person who would be the saddest would definitely be her younger cousin, she was nineteen and they've always been extremely close with each other.
"Andrea back me up here," Arthur yelled, "my creativity is not on the same level as your cat's."
"You're right," Andrea replied smugly, "my cat is definitely more creative than you," Arthur looked mildly offended, but all Andrea could think about was her cat, Teddy who was at the neighbour's house being looked after.
