Happy New Year!
Maybe Calum moved too quickly, but the brown swirls in her eyes enticed him and subconsciously pulled him in. Their lips met softly in the middle and Calum's hands moved to cup both of Andrea's cheeks. He felt nimble fingers snake up his back all the way to his shoulders which instantly relaxed him.
Cracks of fireworks were heard in the background and Andrea would've been startled but the gentle movement of Calum's lips against her own distracted her from the cheering outside. Despite the coldness from the weather, warmth filled Andrea from head to toe and all the calmness that she wanted was replaced with a mess of tangled wires in her brain.
Time stopped and the loudness from outside was displaced with a ringing in both of Andrea's ears. At that moment, it was just them, Andrea and Calum and nothing else mattered. Perhaps breathing did because eventually, they had to separate for air. Calum's breath tickled her nose as their foreheads were pressed against each other. Their hands remained in the same place and both bassists were breathless as they held onto each other for support.
Calum had slowly opened his eyes to look at the girl in front of him, who still had her eyes closed and was continuing to bask in the feeling. He hesitantly caressed her cheek trying to coax Andrea to open her eyes. A small smile ghosted her lips and Calum couldn't help but grin back. She looked at Calum with wondrous eyes, once she opened them.
"I'm sorry," Calum lowered his head, trying to hide his worried look. He knew he had to be careful, they weren't even halfway through the tour and one simple kiss could mess up everything. But it wasn't just a simple kiss it was an explanation of how Calum felt towards the bassist without actually saying anything. Although he felt happy and floaty there was a weight holding him down as he didn't even ask before he kissed her.
"Hey," Andrea lifted up his chin so their eyes met, "it's ok," she wasn't really sure what else to say. Internally she wanted to yell at him so he would do it again, but Andrea was still in shock. So many questions were entering her head making the wires of her brain even more of a mess than before.
"It's not though," he closed his eyes and if Andrea didn't know any better she'd say he was on the verge of tears, "I should've asked first, I cannot apologise enough, I-."
She had to do something, Andrea couldn't bear to see Calum like this, "can I kiss you?" She took herself by surprise by asking that question, but she would do anything to show Calum that she liked it without an awkward confession.
He nodded and without another second wasted, Andrea moved and connected their lips for the second time that day. The fireworks were still being let off, but she couldn't hear them, with her eyes closed she couldn't see all of the pretty colours, but she could see each time one flashed. This time, Andrea's hands cradled Calum's face, she focused on the soft, plump texture of his lips that brushed against hers delicately. The warmth came back and it brought along a weakness in the knees, Andrea gripped onto Calum like he was her lifeline, maybe he was.
Once again, they pulled apart gasping for breath whilst giggling like school children with a crush. Calum was whispering soft words which Andrea couldn't catch, but it didn't matter Calum's voice alone made her want to melt straight into another kiss.
"Are you ok?" he stroked her hair back whilst staring at her in awe. He was breathless himself, but Andrea was top priority as all the smoke from the fireworks wasn't going to help although beforehand they had both smoked a cigarette. Andrea nodded in reply with a smile so big Calum was afraid she was going to burst. His fingers were tingling from every light touch he placed on her face. He didn't dream of pulling them away even though it felt like his fingertips were aflame.
