"and what was conclusion from the marketing team?" mike asked as el looked up from her lap.

she was sitting across from him of his desk, discussing the upcoming project.

"it's worth it.." she murmured, "they say that their market looks good, they—"

"i know that. is there anything else? just because their market is good doesn't mean i should work with them," he said and she nodded.

"i'm sorry.." she whispered, "um, their products.. the company that produces it, they can earn back double the upcoming year,"

"okay good, and?"

el shook her head, "that's all they said.."

"that's all they said!?"

she flinched and nodded, "i—" she looked down to her file, "i'll find out something else," she shot out of her seat.

"that's not what i—"

"i'm sorry," she cut him off then ran out of his office as she threw her file on her desk, holding a hand on her heart as she felt it race.

no, not now. please not now.

rushing to the bathroom, she went to the handicap stall and sat down as she tried her best to steady her breathing.

but she couldn't. she felt like she was chocking.

she felt like she couldn't breathe.

deep breath in, deep breath out, she tried to tell herself but it only got worse from there.

she began to beat on the wall, tears streaming down her face as she hiccuped and felt her punches weaken.

slowly, she dropped down against the wall, down to the ground till her legs rested besides her on the ground.

deep breath..

till her breathing finally stabled, she still wanted to lay there and not move at all but she knew she had to go back to work.

slowly, she walked out then went back to her desk as she wiped the tears under her eyes and checked out her fingers.

they look worse.

she began to type on her laptop with her left hand, her right being too bad to touch the keyboard due to her adding some punches to a hard brick wall.

"hey el," lucas came out of the elevator and el hid her hand under her desk. "hi sir," she whispered.

"thought we went to first name bases," he teased and she forced a small smile. "mr wheeler is inside," she only said before hanging her head down to hide behind her laptop.

"hey, you good?" he asked and she nodded slowly, "fine..." she didn't meet his gaze because she was too afraid to.

"el.." he slowly said and she hummed. "yes?"

"are you bleeding?" he breathed out and she looked down to her sweater to see it starting to stain with blood.

her heart began to race, she knew that the bandage she put in her back was eventually going to be needed to change but she didn't expect it to be so quick.

she couldn't speak and so he walked over to her which made her jolt.

"hey, you're good. i studied in medical school, i'll get that stitched up for you, 'kay?" he asked and she looked up hesitantly.

"you know me. we're good," he smiled warmly at her, "won't tell mike. there's first aid items in the pantry. he held out his hand to her and she grabbed it slowly.
