[ STORYBROOKE ]
[ PRESENT DAY ]

After she had left her brother alone on his invisible ship, Lily had wandered around the outskirts of town for a while before she ventured into the woods. She didn't have to walk that far before she came across a small clearing she deemed good enough to set up camp. She wasn't overly fond of sleeping in the woods, but it sure beat the alternative. She had no interest in the town and while it seemed impossible, she had less interest in the people that inhabited it.

By nightfall, Lily had calmed down and almost felt normal again, but whenever her brother crossed her mind, she found her anger levels rising; and they continued to do so, until she was able to think about anything else. She had contemplated taking her anger out on a tree, but the last time she did that, she set it ablaze and she didn't want to draw any extra attention to herself.

While her brother might've been walking around town, attempting to play friends with the locals, Lily wanted to do the complete opposite. She wanted to keep herself isolated from everyone. She couldn't guarantee that it would last long, a small voice in the back of her mind told her as much.

Killian sat alone aboard the Jolly Roger. He had come to Storybrooke for the sole purpose of revenge, not to reunite with this long lost sister. He never intended on seeing her again. He kicked himself for believing the rumours that she had perished aboard that sinking ship. He should've known better.

At the time, he thought he was doing the right thing. Liam had convinced him that Lily would be okay, that it would be safer to leave her behind; and Killian had spent all of this time believing that was true. He still believed it right up until he saw her standing in front of him. Killian knew she was holding something back. He saw the pain that had ever so briefly flashed across her eyes during their reunion. He saw how she immediately hid it too.

He knew something bad had happened to her, and it broke his heart to think that he was responsible for it. Deep down, he knew he never should've left her behind. He had once wanted to go back for her but he didn't; and he hated himself everyday for it.

[ ON THE OPEN SEAS ]
[ PAST ]

While the rest of the crew slept, Killian held a dusty burlap sack in one hand while he stuffed what little possessions he had into it with the other. He could feel his heart pounding in his chest, he was terrified that somebody would wake up and catch him in the act. His brother had come to him with a plan for them to escape the hell their father had left them in. He was immediately on board with the idea, though he did hesitate when Liam had revealed they would need to leave Lily behind.
