August's words about the author being trapped inside the door on the page she held in her hands kept replaying in Lily's mind. She had heard of the many strange things that inhabited the magical world they lived in, and she had experienced plenty of them, some giving her better memories than others. But somebody being trapped within a door within a page? That was new.
She glanced at Regina, hoping she would've figured out an answer by now, but she shared the same confused expression as Lily did. "I don't understand." Lily said as she finally looked up at Emma for the first time in several minutes. "How on earth is the author trapped inside the book?"
"Don't ask me, you guys are the magic experts." Emma mumbled.
"This is insane." Regina said, taking the page from Lily. "What are we supposed to do? Draw a key?"
"What we need to do is figure it out before Gold does." Emma replied.
While the three women were all so engrossed in their conversation about the author and how they would get him out of the book, they didn't notice Henry standing up. Lily thought she caught something in the corner of her eye for a brief moment, but she ignored it in order to focus on the page, desperately searching for something, anything that could give her a clue on how to figure this whole mystery out.
Henry stood silently for a moment, nervously glancing between August and his mothers. He didn't want to disturb the conversation, but his gut was telling him that something was wrong with August and his brow furrowed slightly as he began to see it with his own eyes.
"Mom!"
Instinctively, all three women lifted their heads when they heard the boy calling for his mother. He signalled that something was wrong with August, and Regina and Emma immediately went over to check on him. For a split second, Lily moved to follow them but then she stopped, frowning ever so slightly as she kept her gaze lowered. He had never called her Mom before, she had always been Lily to him. That's what she responded to whenever he called on her. She found it strange how she had reacted to it now.
She looked up when she heard Regina calling her name. Her face softened to hide the frown and confusion she felt over her reaction to her actions. She quietly stood beside Regina and looked down at August. "Is he sleeping?"
Emma shook her head. "I don't think so." She placed her hands on August's arms and gently shook him a few times, but the man remained unresponsive with his eyes closed. She looked up at Regina and Lily as her eyes filled with concern. "We need to get him help."
