[ STORYBROOKE ]
[ PRESENT DAY ]

Astrid quietly sat in a booth at the back of the diner, carefully watching every move Cruella and Ursula made as the talked, no doubt about their intentions in Storybrooke. She had grown fond of the heroes and didn't intend on returning to the dark side, but if it meant she would see her sister again, she would be tempted. Though given that she was now powerless, she wasn't sure that would be such a good idea.

So far, Cruella and Ursula had left her alone and she hoped that it would stay that way; but a anxious knot in her stomach placed a great deal of doubt in her mind. She wanted to stay with Evander, in whatever way he would have her, but she also wanted her sister back. Maleficent had raised her, cared for her, taught her to master her powers when everyone she knew was terrified of her. Astrid sighed quietly and looked down at her hands, only to look up again when the bell rang and Ursula called out Regina's name.

"We could use a heart rip over here." Ursula briefly smiled. "Granny needs a little encouragement in taking our order."

Astrid restrained from rolling her eyes and glanced at Regina, who took Henry's hand into her own, ready to protect him should the need arise.

"Yes, a very effective tactic." Cruella said, agreeing with Ursula. "Didn't you once rip out the heart of every villager in the North Woods?"

Ursula smirked. "Or was it the South?"

Regina turned to Henry. "Uh, why don't you head to my office, get started on the book? Adrienne should be with you soon." She said gently.

"Sure." Henry said. "Make sure to get chocolate frosted donuts, not chocolate donuts." He added before he left, but not before he gave Astrid a small smile. He left too quickly for her to return it. Regina watched him leave with a soft smile on her face, before she turned to Cruella and Ursula where her smile fell.

"Let me be clear, ladies." She said. "If you bring up my former sins around my son again, you'll find yourselves across that town line faster than you can say costume jewellery."

Cruella placed her hand over her chest, trying to give off a dramatically offended look. "These are blood diamonds, I'll have you now."

"Come on, let's take our business elsewhere." Ursula said as she stood up, and lead Cruella out of the diner.

As soon as the door closed behind them, Astrid found herself sighing with relief. It was her own choice that brought her to the diner that day. She knew Regina would be meeting with David and Mary Margaret, who sat together a few booths down with their son in his stroller; and she wanted to be involved. She wanted to help them. She wanted to be one of the good guys and not just a powerful machine for once.
