ENCHANTED FOREST PAST
Lily sat at the small table in the cabin she had raised her children in. The oldest was Lorelai, then there was Evander and then finally, Adrienne. They were the only people in the world that mattered to her. She had killed and tortured people, and even burned villages down to the ground. And she would do it all again for her children without hesitation.
The oldest was her daughter, Lorelai. She was the complete opposite of her mother. She was quiet, kept to herself as much as she possibly could, and avoided trouble at all costs. She was a kind and gentle soul.
Then there was her only son, Evander. He was like Lily in a lot of ways, but he was also like his uncle. He loved adventure, usually found himself in trouble when he didn't always mean it, and could also sometimes be a little reckless.
And finally, there was Adrienne. The youngest daughter and youngest child. She was the one who was most like her mother. Physically and mentally. She was the only one to inherit their mother's magical abilities, and while she wasn't as magically strong as Lily, Adrienne was still powerful; and that brought a whole heap of trouble on its own.
The door to the cabin opened and Lily heard footsteps walking into the building. She stood up and turned around, but much to her surprise and disappointment, only Evander was there to greet her. "Where are your sisters?" She asked.
"They've already left. They weren't at their cabins when I went to check on them earlier." Evander replied.
"Oh." Lily quietly said, disappointment obvious in both her voice and her face.
"It's better that they left when they did." Evander said. "You wouldn't want Elijah getting a hold of them."
"They could have stayed. I would have protected them. Just like I always do." Lily said. "Elijah does not scare me."
"He's a powerful man, Mother." Evander said. "A powerful man that has been hell bent on destroying our family ever since you killed his wife.
"We." Lily jumped in, quickly correcting her son. "We killed his wife. We all played our part in her demise."
"Yes, but it was you who caused her heart to stop beating." Evander pointed out. "You took what he loved most, and that's what he wants to take from you."
"You and your sisters." Lily said, her voice barely above a whisper.
"Elijah and his men will be here soon." Evander informed her. "I think it's best that I leave now too."
"I can't say I'm surprised you want to leave." Lily sighed. "At least you came to say goodbye."
