Sweet Rain [Ganyu x Reader]

You stirred awake. Once again, there was the feeling of a soft body pressed up against you. Soothing breaths were the only noise you could hear, with the subtle scent of a humid day and the slight pressure of a tucked in blanket. It took a while to process that you were in Ganyu's arms.

Despite coming out of a long sleep, you still felt like you could rest for a couple more hours at least. But you knew you had to get up and get going. Fortunately, while Ganyu's body was heavy, lifting her arm and leg that had been draped over you was easy. The fact that you were able to do it without her waking up meant you were either really skilled with sneaking out or Ganyu was a heavy sleeper.

You took a moment to look at Ganyu's sleeping form. Even though she wasn't conscious, you saw that her arm and leg retracted in response to there being no one to hold, giving a smooth whimper that melted your heart. Then there was her fluffy blue hair and the cute little headpiece she had at all times. She always looked so graceful in her sleep that part of you never wanted to leave the room.

But you had to. You had university and she has her secretary job.

You went off to the kitchen to get some breakfast, only to see someone was already at the fridge.

"Mmm... Morning, Lumine..." You mumbled.

"Morning!" Lumine had a bright, chipper voice that mirrored her youthful appearance and golden locks of hair. She seemed to already have breakfast set for you, that traditional sunny side up egg 'eyes' with a bacon smile. "You're really starting to like cuddling with Ganyu, huh?" Lumine sat at the table and gave a slight giggle.

"Yeah... I haven't slept like that in ages..." You stretched and could feel a few of your muscles 'pop' into place.

"Told ya you shouldn't knock it until you tried it." Lumine said. You began to eat your eggs, dipping the bacon into the yoke. It made you think to how this 'deal' between you and Ganyu came about.

You were haggard from a long day at Liyue University. The test wasn't the huge problem you had to endure, but rather the lengthy walk from your university to home.

No. Home wasn't really the right word to call it. Liyue was a rich city, yes, but it also came with a lot of expenses. In order to have affordable housing, you signed a contract with some other students to live under the same roof, almost akin to a dorm.

This, however, came at the cost of taking up a part-time job in between classes to help pay your student loan and your rent. The rate of pay would ensure that by the time you've graduated, you'll not only have a good amount of money to invest in whatever you pleased, but you'd also have paid off your debt.

Though, that did not stop you from feeling extremely groggy. The moment you arrived at home, you immediately b-lined towards the closest bed and fell face first.

That's when you made the mistake of sleeping in Ganyu's bed. Ganyu was one of your roommates and a secretary at the college, her job helping to pay the majority of the expenses. The moment you realized you weren't in your room, Ganyu had already spotted you.

"Ah! Ganyu! I'm..." You said to her before she laid down next to you.

"You're tired too, right?" Ganyu asked. You nodded, unable to even focus without yawning loudly. "It's okay. You can rest... here..." Ganyu petted your head as she got closer. This was the first time you actually got a good look at Ganyu. Normally, she'd either be busy working either at the university or working at home, and occasionally she'd be sleeping so she'd not be able to interact with you or the other roommates.

But here, you could feel how warm she felt in your arms. A sort of additional pillow for you. It wasn't helped with the fact that she tightly held you for a brief moment before letting go of her tension. Perhaps the best ambience that fitted this was the small yet eager pitter patter of raindrops. It was here that you spent a rainy afternoon with Ganyu as you two slept the day away.

It became like this for a couple of days as an unspoken deal was struck. You wanted sleep. She wanted a companion. So, it came to pass that, in the event that you were ever tired, you'd go to Ganyu's room to sleep. Even in the event that she wouldn't be there, like what happened last night, she would always be by your side in the morning.

Lumine had become aware of this 'deal' almost immediately, as she would be the one to tuck you and Ganyu in.

"I take it you slept with Ganyu before?" You asked her.

"Of course I have! Ganyu's absolutely adorable!" Lumine smiled before she looked at your face. "Aaaw, you're blushing!" Lumine poked your cheek

"Ah!" You gave out a little eep as her finger sunk into your little cheek.

"You like her too, don't you?" Lumine asked you.

"..." That... you weren't too sure about. Yes, Ganyu was a very nice woman and she practically heals you when you have rough days, but... is that enough to engage a romance with her?

"You like her enough that you're still snuggling with her if that's anything to go by." Lumine shrugged.

"Yeah, but... That's more of a mutual agreement. We both want to sleep and... well, when I'm alone, I don't really get sleep." You mumbled.

"Are you really going to be wishy-washy about this? If it were me, I'd just outright say it." Lumine gave a pause before she smirked. "In fact, Ganyu told me that she likes having you around." Lumine playfully pinched your cheek. "Maybe I should get in on this cuddle pile and see if you live up to the hype." The way she smiled, you could see a cute little fang from her mouth.

"Mmm, morning..." Ganyu groggily said as she arrived at the kitchen.

"Morning, Ganyu! We were just talking about you!" Lumine waved her over before letting go of your cheek.

"Huh? What about?" Ganyu asked.

"..." Damn. Lumine put you in a spot. The fact that she slinked away as Ganyu focused on you was all the prove you need of that. "Ganyu... Do you... like sleeping with me?" You asked.

"Of course I do. Before you came along, I... had a bit of a restlessness. Body pillows mitigated it but... holding you in my arms felt amazing. Though..." Ganyu blushed. "Do you feel comfortable?"

"Yeah!" Your voice sprang out and before you knew it, you began to spill your guts. "You have such a warm body, you're extremely soft to hold, and I feel like, if I was able to rest my head on your body, I'd sleep for hours." You covered your mouth upon realizing you said too much.

"That's great... Well, we can continue sleeping like we have, but not right now... I have to go to work and you have to get to class." Ganyu was ready to leave the kitchen... You looked to see Lumine from the very end of the room rotating her hand towards you, as though to say 'what are you waiting for?'.

"Wait! There's... one more thing... Ganyu... You're very beautiful... I..." And yet, you worried if you're going to say it too soon. "I don't just like sleeping with you... I like you as well!" But you didn't care.

Ganyu took a moment to process what exactly you just said before she gave a sheepish giggle.

"I like you too. You wanna walk with me to the university?" Ganyu asked you.

"Yeah..." You said. Just before you left the house, though, you asked Ganyu one last question. "Hey, do you think that, next time we sleep, Lumine can join?" That immediately caused Ganyu to blush and give out a rather flustered scream. You could hear Lumine laughing her ass off as you left.

Still, walking with Ganyu to the university was great... Especially now that you're able to view her not as just a sleeping buddy, but as someone you loved...

To think, all it took to get you to be with her was a sweet, rainy day...
