You were the outcast of Cherryton Academy. Not because you weren't an animal like the rest of your peers or even being a literal outsider, far from it. It was due to your status as an omnivore. You were in a world where animals have anthropomorphic forms and have a caste system based on whether you prefer plants or meat for your food.
For someone who could eat both, you were stuck in a weird place. Herbivores wouldn't want anything to do with you out of fear that you'd make them your next meal and the Carnivores dismiss you for being a "leaf-eater", conforming to the anti-carnivore norms placed by society. There really wasn't a place for you to go.
Nowhere, save for the garden. Cherryton had a lovely garden that was full of flowers. It was the one place you truly felt welcome. Though, that might have been because you found company in someone who had experienced the same sort of isolation: Haru.
It didn't take much to figure out how she found herself without a lot of friends, with her being a rabbit and all. Seems all the jokes about rabbits being sexually promiscuous are true, at least from the rumors you heard of Haru. Though, you took it as just that: rumors. Surely, Haru wasn't the cliché "slutty bunny" that everyone makes her out to be, right?
It was the afternoon when you finished helping Haru out with the garden. Ever since you first met her, you struck an unspoken deal: you could stay in the garden on your free time in trade for helping her. At least, that was the idea you had. Haru didn't really mind the help, but at the same time, she didn't really want it in the first place. It was an awkward time to say the least and it lasted for three days at best before Haru took you into the shed.
"So... Why exactly are you helping me? What are you seeking to gain?" Haru's voice, contrasting to her cute and small stature, had a dull yet cutting tone in her voice, the kind you'd hear out of a cat than a rabbit.
"I thought it'd be obvious." You meekly said. This was the first time Haru has used this dry snarky tone at you, so you hesitated to follow up the answer with your desire to hang around the garden. However, the resigned sigh interrupted your speech and before you could even continue, Haru spoke up.
"I figured as such..." Before you could even ask what she meant, she went over to close the blinds and darken the room. She unbuckled the belt that held her white school uniform together. It soon became obvious what she thought you wanted. "They say you're a carnivore... If that's true, then this will be my first time with one." She undressed herself and soon approached you in nothing but her underwear. "Just relax, okay?" Her voice, even when it's still cutting, helped ease you.
The moment she tried to reach for your buckle, you instead held her.
"W-what?" Haru was a little startled with the hug, even more so when you flopped with her onto the ground. Your hands reached around and felt true heaven: a rabbit's fur. Never before had anything felt so warm and fluffy. Not to mention that she smells like the flowers she spends so much time caring for. "U-um... I can't really do it without you being..."
"No, it's fine... I don't want that. Just being able to fluff up this body is enough of a reward..." You nuzzled into her shoulder. You had always felt the weird, uncomfortable feeling of interacting with anthropomorphic animals due to the fact that it was awkward to talk with a dog standing upright and having them talk to you in a manner similar to a fellow human. Even more awkward having the idea of loving an anthropomorphic animal. Had they just have animal ears and/or a tail, that'd be fine, but right now, you're snuggling with a human-sized rabbit with the same skeletal structure as a human. But... it didn't feel awkward.
It felt relaxing.
"You... don't want to..." Haru slowly made the connection. By the time she did, she, in spite of your size being almost double hers, had her body draped over yours, chin close to your neck. Before either of you noticed, you felt the furs on her chin brush up against your neck. If you recalled correctly, this was a rabbit's body language for "I own you, now". You felt no urge to kiss her, rather, you just wanted to run your fingers through the fuzzy fur as though she was a book called "Pat the Bunny".
"You're... so fluffy..." You gave a smile as your eyelids grew heavy. You feel asleep with the feeling of a soft bunny on your torso...
-_-_-_-_-_-
When you came to about an hour later, however, you were alone in the garden shed. A small note was on your chest as you got up and read it.
"Our time was brief, but it was fun... Though, don't expect that to happen again really soon.
Apologies for misreading your intentions,
Haru."
Ever since then, you and Haru didn't see each other. Not helping matters was that the next day, reports of a murder had taken place. While you were initially pinned as a suspect due to no alibi, your name was cleared when police took note of your bite marks and concluded that there'd be no way for a human to eat their way through an alpaca, let alone any creature, whole.
This also cleared your status up, thus freeing the larger herbivores of any suspicion they had of you. Of course, you weren't trusted with a metal fork and knife, but that was to be expected. The carnivores still had some resentment, but they were also busy with getting accused of murder themselves. Weeks have gone by as you finally settled into a normal life.
Though, you often wondered how Haru was doing. Not helped by you catching a glimpse of what seemed to be a wolf being with her... Perhaps her newest "mark"? You didn't let that get to you though... You knew you were playing with fire when she confirmed the rumors... But even so...
You missed the feeling of your hand through fur...
Your sigh was backed up by another sigh, this coming from a she-wolf. In contrast to Haru, she was roughly your size. And... admittedly cute. Telling from her species and what you had seen, it was obvious what happened.
"Let me guess... You had a thing for him?" You asked her.
"..." She didn't confirm it, but her expression didn't deny it either... Still, you knew there was a small hole in her heart that needed to be filled.
"My name is [y/n]. Yours?" You took the first step to creating a new friend, maybe even more than that, though the most you wanted to do is to give her the same amount of scritchies you would a normal dog.
"Juno..." A wistful smile, but a smile nonetheless... While one door closed with Haru, another door opened...
