You looked at the words written on your wrist. 'He's so shy...' As though they were a label for you specifically. And, to this day, you were still shy, maybe even anxious. Yet, you grew up better because of it.
You had no idea why these words appeared on your wrist, but you knew they appeared shortly after you met Sayori, your childhood friend. Throughout your childhood, you and her were practically inseparable and you always heard the sounds of her happy laughter inside your head. There was even a point in your life where, for just one minute, a cute drawing of a bunny rabbit's head appeared on the palm of your hand before it disappeared. It was a strange thing that only happened a few times throughout your life.
Though, as the days went on and you grew into teenagers, your thoughts became clouded. Every night, as you laid in your bed, you could hear her cries buried deep in your thoughts, in your mind, even in your own dreams. The worst part was, you had no idea why this was the case.
This led you to read the words written on your wrist. To this day, you never showed it to anyone, not even Sayori. Even when you got a checkup from the doctor or even from your own mother, you hid it from their prying eyes. It was something you and only you knew about. A secret message you kept close to your chest.
But... the cries became more and more prevalent in your mind that you couldn't help but see a similarity between them and the writing, especially since, recently, you joined a literature club Sayori was a part of. Part of the festivities involved swapping poems. This was where you saw Sayori's handwriting...
And how it matched the tattoo on your wrist.
At that moment, you knew there had to be answers to this, but you weren't sure who to ask. You felt like asking Sayori up front would be a breach in privacy, and you doubted the other members would be well versed...
Though, that was, until you bumped into Yuri, by far the tallest and most aloof girl in the club. As she took a moment to grab your hand and catch you from falling, she suddenly noticed the tattoo on your wrist. After taking a few moments to read what it said and, realizing the handwriting, her eyes widened.
"I'm sorry... You shouldn't have seen this..." You tried to hide the mark away, only for Yuri to grab your wrist and look closely at it. Once she read the words, she understood completely.
"Do you realize what this means?" Yuri asked you.
"Um... No?" You replied.
"Meet me in the storage closet." Yuri said. You followed her to the back. The storage closet was rather crammed with many supplies kept inside, preventing you and Yuri from moving around much, but its trade-off was being able to speak more comfortably in private, especially once Yuri closed the door behind her.
"What's going on?" You asked, confused.
"It might be a stretch, but... I've read about this in one of my books... I think... Sayori is your soulmate." Yuri said.
"My what now?" You replied.
"A soulmate. Essentially, someone you're destined to be with. There are multiple indicators that define a soulmate, with each bond having unique ways of determining those indicators. It seems you have this writing on your wrist." Yuri said just as you heard a whimper from Sayori in your head.
"... I think... That's not all I have as an indicator." You told her.
"Huh?" Yuri asked.
"I... can hear her thoughts in my head. Or... rather her... cries. Is... that one of her indicators?" You asked.
