sakusa did not just hear "i like you" from someone who has made his life miserable, constant agony just because he cannot dream of anything else while he sleeps and think of anything else while he's awake.
it is both, a torture and pleasure knowing he's not alone in this.
he tried to hold your hand but failed to. You looked at him with clear tears in your eyes that would come out the next time you blink, you sniffed, as you looked at him.
"am i that disgusting?"
he immediately shook his head with his eyes wide open and heavily breathing, "no no no it's not you y/n, it's me." as tears rolled down his cheeks.
you slowly closed your eyes, taking in his words slowly and how all you could think was of how when someone says that it isn't your fault but there's, they definitely mean that it's yours. You're the problem.
"look," you gathered your courage and took a deep breath, readying yourself for the next words that will come out of your mouth. "I am not looking for anything, if you don't want, it is simply a confession, not a request."
"y/n...." he finally looks up.
"i have liked you for a long time, maybe since the first time I helped you. i havent been able to think straight after that day."
"you have always avoided me." you sniffed.
"because I was afraid of my feelings."
"why?"
"because...." he took a deep breath. "because i couldn't see us together."
"but now i cannot see otherwise." he continued. "please," he takes a step towards you. "please, you need to accept me as i am."
"y/n" the door opens and your mom is standing, holding the door.
"come on in."
"yes, ok." you turn to sakusa, "I'll talk to you tomorrow."
somewhat glad, you turned around cause you know you're just a second away from bawling your eyes out.
and you did, once you went to your room.
